Thread: Setbacks, but let's Start Experimenting.

Alright, let's look at the facts.

We've obviously been delt some somebacks by the patch, granted. We also must take into consideration that if changes are going to be made, and skills are going to be fixed its going to take some time. Right now though we need to work with what we have and attempt to experiment with that to get the best possible combination out of our skills and abilities. There's plenty of spices, buffs, and foods at there where we should be able to get around the problem, so lets start designing ways to get around these problems.

Morale is also low at this point to across the whole board. We've taken a big ol crack from the nerf bat, but lets get back up and keep fighting as we always do. Perhaps we had become to reliant on knockdown to begin with, so lets focus our energies else where. The Devs aren't specifically guning for us in anyway, they're just trying to do their job, and they see this as balancing the game. If they really wanted to hurt us anyway wouldn't they just get rid of all our special moves, instead of increasing some of the effectiveness of them. I don't think so.

So returning to my original subject, if you have a neat combination that will work with the new laws put into place governing our combat, please post them on this thread, so that we may all benefit from them as well.

Good try at getting things back on track.

I guess I'll start with a discussion on fighting sans knockdown at more advanced levels of Tera Kasi.

I was 5 boxes into TK before I started using knockdown. I resisted the urge to experiment with it and use it as it was cheesy, and I was also a slow learner. That is, until the day came when I lost 6/18 pieces of armor I had sat down to repair and realized I was going to go broke keeping myself in chitin. If anything, I'll probably have a better idea how life is going to be post-patch than most TK who got the balance box first (colour me extra stupid, I got meditate first).

Ok, so we all know that armor is useless when you can just knock the mob down and avoid the blows entirely, right? Ok, that was yesterday, this is today. A full set of half decent Chitin will rape your regen stats and make your specials cost ungodly amounts of ham, but what the hell, they cost ungodly amounts now anyway, hahahaha.

The important thing is a good set will deflect at least 1/3 of all incoming kinetic damage.

Couple this with INTIMIDATE - the tk's new best friend - which makes creatures do half damage, and you can actually kill white cons again, if you bring along a bunch of stimpaks. Oh, I did mention you better pick up medic skills, right? Well, now's the time! Sorry, the bitterness is spilling over here, trying to keep it positive =)

Ok, so now we have a full set of chitin taking away 33% or more of incoming damage, which is already halved seeing as you spammed intimidate enough times for it to stick. Blind them too so they miss more.. and you're looking at reducing incoming damage by about 2/3 (50% + 1/3 of the remaining 50%), and if blind, they'll hopefully miss 1 hit in 10 now. WhenI did this white cons would be pecking away at me for about 60 damage, of which 20 was being absorbed by the armor.

Couple this with stimpaks and progressing is again possible. Honest, this is how i got to 5 boxes into TK. It's ugly, it takes forever, and it's very costly armorwise, but it works.

Any other suggestions?

I used to do pull tricks, use intimidate, and then berserk but now, solo is no longer a viable option for tka's. With berserk and unarmed knockdown both FUBAR, my next resort is group hunting because you only get killed by anything more than a single white con.

Ok this is my first post on these boards... and i dont flame or post idiotic comments and i dont want TKA to be completely uber.. I just have a few things i want to point out.

There are two major issues with the massive KD ham costs right now.....

1. We cant tank - This was the whole point of our profession.. its not like we can do masses of damage to whole groups of mobs - we could tank a single mob and that was it

2. Our own fighting now kills us quicker than the mob does - Think about it folks this is just not fun, and its not the way the game combat system should be. Fighting effectively kills us.

I am a Pure TKA - I'm not one of these people who believes that they should take medic skills so that they can heal themselves and fight anything without risk... im not a CH and TKA either because i want to be in the front line and not hiding behind the creatures _I_ am supposed to be the tank.

Well unless i want to be master medic and Master TKA with a bit of CH thrown in. the game is now impossible for me on my own, even against whites, and even a medic will seriously striggle to keep me alive. It's an absolute discrace that i should have to consider taking medic skills so that i can white a white con fight.

This nerf has taken away our only defense... We are no longer a viable option against a Mob, and i am talking Whites here. not Yellows or reds that we shouldnt be able to kill in the first place

This patch has turned aCH/Pistoleer into the best tank in the game -ridiculous! - Melee fighters should be the tanks in this game, that is their one purpose.

There is only one reason why i haven't cancelled my account today and waited for the game to become more balanced in a few months time or whenever they decide that they ought to take a constructive look at the issues rather than offhanded quick fixes - I am a Guild Leader, and i will not and cannot abandon them.

Oh and just a quick Hi to my good friend Synne who i know reads these boards... Looks like you got your nerf my friend... my guess is you wont call for another in a long long long time.

Oh and by the way, i dont mean any offense Zerous but you sound just like a Dev on a damage limitation mission.

Oh, btw. I didn't have any medic skills until 5 boxes into Tk - same time I started using knockdown in the first place. Things simply got so difficult at that level for me that even though I wanted tobe a tk purist myself, it was no longer an option... even with knockdown. Even when I won the downtimes were getting disgusting at that point.

My advice to purists is get TK Master using medic skills, then feel free to drop the medic skills... Cheesy but it works... Same with CH skills - I was actually 3 boxes from master ch when I was only 2 boxes into TK, and I dropp the CH skills entirely. *I* wanted to do my own killing, and I found I was tanking every mob myself anyway while my pets nibbled at it.

I know just what you mean, I wanted to be purely TK myself, and have skillpoints left for a hobby profession like artisan or something. It just didn't work...
