Thread: Can you Dodge, Block, and Counterattack while fighting unarmed?

In other words, if I have Dodge, Block, and Counterattack mods from other professions (Fencer, Pikeman, Swordsman), do they apply even when I am not using those combat styles? I would like to gain those defensive mods while using the offense of a TKM.

Any know the answer to this?

Thanks in advance for your responses!!

if i remember a while back the Dev's were posting that the different skills only worked when that paticular weapon was equiped, like Dinian mentioned.

i always wondered how they differentiate another class skill from a tk skill.

wouldnt melee defense be grouped with melee defense? or in some twisted way is it actually pistol melee defense on the program side and it is actually calculated behind the scenes?

So, how does my +10 ranged and melee defense from Master Ranger apply at all? Does it apply when im camping or throwing traps?

I think there needs to be a definite clarification of this issue. From what I've read so far, the ranged defense and melee defenses stack. I've heard mixed comments about the other combat defenese like defense vs and dodge, block, etc.

+melee and +range defense modifiers seem to stack.

melee and ranged definitely stack, defense against kd, blind etc stack, the big question is how the dodge works. is it if im usinga pistol/fencer thing only? and defensive acuity, **edit** that phrasing sucked...by the way they phrased defensive acuity it actually makes it seem like it adds to ur dodge skill...which would potentially give a character like what, 285 dodge if he got master fencer/master gunfighter/tka precision line?

I'm fairly certain any char has the ability to do those things. Even a novice marksman. The chance is just very very very low.

As I haven't picked up fencer myself to test this, from what I've read it does all stack. You have an overall dodge skill that multiple trees can affect. And it is passive and doesn't depend on the weapon.

The results from the Pistoleer correspondent re: Dodge seems to differ from your opinion.

It seemed like his dodge "turned off" once he unequipped his pistol.
