Hello everyone,

Just wanted to know if people still use this template?

I knew it was a great template in the past.

But with the recent changes in the game, Does this template still hold its own?

I mastered Pistoleer awhile back, and loved it.

I am now picking up Tera Kasi, and would like to try this template.

Can anyone give me some thoughs?

Well, i have a friend who recently dropped your current template for one with more powerful defense and relatively the same or higher offense. I could've gone the same way, but i chose not to because i rather enjoy my template.


Naturally, if we stacked defense we would have a relatively better pvp-template (pure combat, minus the ability to craft) than the TKM/Pistoleer/Smuggler route. However, i'd gladly sacrifice that option to have my current abilities of being both proficient at combat and providing services for the public at a cost.


Theres nothing that gives you as much pleasure as being a self-sufficient JoaT (atleast for many of those who picked up smuggler). In fact, ive noticed quite a few threads wherein the posters all agree that smugglers are great for RP. You feel like a street-tough wiseguy who can open fire on someone whos got their back turned to youfrom adistance, while also retaining your ability to jump into a bar fight with fists flying.


Now, for the facts:


TKM = For the most part, well-balanced. Good defenses, excellent offenses (cept where elders are concerned), highly useful abilities such as meditating for wounds and DoTs, Powerboost and FoW. Relatively easy to level up, and a good money-maker. As you obviously already know, we get just one type of damage, which is kinetic. This could be changed with the addition of razorknucklers, but im hoping they leave it as it is.


Pistoleer = For the most part, broken. The specials, i mean. More information can be found regarding this in the status of pistoleer specials thread. Additionally, we dont cap the speed on our weapons unless we couple our modifiers with CAs/AAs/bandos or the BH pistols line. The advantages of this profession are that it has excellent defense VS states, the ability to dodge incoming attacks and plenty of different damage types, especially helpful in dealing outenergy damage with AP1 tothe elders who you couldnt so much as dent with TK. Additionally, when coupled with TK, you get both the ranged and melee dmg mitigations. A problem could be that the profession is slightly expensive, especially since pure pistoleers (with no other profs) quite often rely on other professions to sell them their DE-10 parts. Without the BH lines, you're going to have a problem targetting mind in PvP, which you can only do if you switch to TK mid-fight. Pistoleer is liable to be fixed in the future, and the advent of dual-wielding definately makes this one a keeper.


Smuggler = The fulcrum of your profession. With it, you're no longer simply a combatant. You have a deeper purpose. Plenty of problems with the profession currently, which you can read more about on our forums. However, selling FP points and slicing are good ways to RP and make quick cash. Our tools dont require experimentation either, which makes it less tedious than being a WS, for example. The DF line has no pistol mods but some useful attacks, such as Last Ditch which has (according to the boards) a 75% chance to stun as well as an extremely high damage modifier. Low blow is a ranged KD, and panic shot, though nerfed can still come in handy. Feign death has it's shortcomings, but i find it useful in PvE nevertheless, especially when i dont wish to burst run because im intent on killing the mob. Burst run will get you outta there alright, but you can only use it intermittently, so using it for elders who you want to evade until you regen but not leave them alive isnt exactly the best option.



When you couple these 3 professions, you get pretty impressive offense/defense (minus the ranged defense, which can be slightly augmented through the use of aaukuan rings, a BE backpack and perhaps some more SEAs), as well as the ability to adapt to any given combat situation since you have a plethora of different dmg types. The smuggler revamp is possibly one of the most highly anticipated, and i cant think of any profession i'd prefer over it if and when they fix it.

Btw, when i mentioned we dont cap speed on our weapons, i was referring to specials such as last ditch, especially with a dmg sliced DE-10, et al.

I had this template once, and the possibilites are good, but the lacking of medic really destroys the whole thing.

Agreed. Im thinking of dropping some of my TK and picking up a few bars of medic, but that remains to be seen.

I am doing something along similar lines, but more based for combat and have now just about finished my template


I am Master Pistoleer/Dirty Fighting4/TKM/Fencer 3-0-4-0


This gives me the triple threat options as only have smugleer pistol tree, and use spare SP for fencer defenses...


I am finding it works pretty good in in PvP as well as PvE
