Trying to find logic in this game is a very bad idea.

It may give you nightmares and stop you from sleeping for weeks.

You guys will have to forgive me, I'm sort of new to the TKA profession. SoulHunter is the first one that I've actually taken to Novice and beyond (currently at 2044) since I started in December, but there is one little thing about the VKs that has always bugged me. Maybe I'm just crazy, I dunno. But that's why I'm posting here.

It just doesn't seem to make much sense to me that you can actually hit faster with a weapon equiped (the VK) vers not having it equiped. I managed to get up through to Novice TKA pretty quickly because of the extra speed boost I get using them vers not. I guess I'm just wondering if it would be practical to basically switch things around and instead make it so you hit faster without them. After all, VKs give you AP1 and a damage bonus, the only down side being the HAM cost (although admittedly it seems kind of high to me while unbuffed). I just always thought that the extra weight in your hand from the weapon would slow you down... not speed you up, even if it didn't weigh that much.

Does anyone else feel this way, or am I just some crazy guy that needs to get a clue?

lol I know, I know. But I couldn't help it. But would anyone really have anything against proposing to have the 2 switched so that your actually faster without the VKs? Personally, if it weren't for the additional speed I get from VKs I would've never used them unless I came across an armored opponent due to the huge HAM cost difference.

Logically you're right but, the thing is this game has no logic and if this post ever gets to a developer he'll probably ignore it anyway although you do make a good point.

It's because you're not master.

Once you reach power 2, the speed boost of a VK doesn't matter anymore, as even with a slow VK you reach the cap.

And at master, even without a VK you reach the speed cap.

So, wouldn't change a thing for a master, but would make the unarmed xp to reach novice really insane.

Technically your speed shouldn't really change at all with or without a VK. It's not bulky, it's probably very light, and you're still doing a regular punch so it should have the same speed as a regular punch. Whatever.

Sorry for taking over the thread but, one weird thing I've noticed with my main character on Bria is that everytime I'm holding a vk I only hit with my left hand while I hold the actual weapon in my right except sometimes on specials I can see that vk slip a little punch here and there. Once again sorry for taking over the thread you may now get back to your scheduled program.

Well, actually I was thinking of pre-master. I kind of figured once you hit master it wouldn't matter. But it really wouldn't make unarmed xp insane. Just increase the speed which you swing at without the weapon a tad and decrease the speed using the VKs a bit. Otherwise the actual XP numbers are the same for TK as it is all the other melee profs. It took me a while to reach Novice TK only because I chose to gimp myself... no armor, and for the most part (until recently) no buffs. Once I started hitting the higher HAM costs for the specials I figured it was time for buffing.


I guess I'm just seeing only 1 good thing about fighting without the weapon (low HAM cost) vers 3 good things using it (AP1, dmg bonus, speed bonus) and was wondering if it would be possible to balance it out....
