Thread: Anyone run into this?

I'm swooping home to my pad on Rori when I trip over a squad of stormies and get knocked off my bike. I'm still fully buffed and armored, have a -5000 imp rating so instead of getting rolled, having to fight, then spend another hour waiting for my covert status to return I figure why not just kill 'em all and go on home. I've done this before with very little trouble.

I'm dead in 30 secs. My health bar just disappeared and I thought - OK the buff must have run out. NOPE. That's when I notice that the stormies "look" different. They have the white armor but it looks different so I do an examine. HOLY SWEET MAMA!!!! A whole squad of UBER armored stormies!!!!!!!

I know I'm SUPPOSED to read all the TC stuff, but lately I want to play the game not research every facet.

So THIS is the NEW imperial crackdown? I've got to start dealing with the foot patrols now like they are Krayts??? At least the Krayts don't knock me off my back if I'm trying to AVOID them.

Yeah, I know the RPs are wetting thier panties with this one, but what a screw job for the nomral player.

Yeah thats the new improved crackdown squads that have appeared and on average the medium black armoured troopers are 115k hams with the top end troopers 150k plus hams, so TKA's beware as they will ruin your day.

I'm ok as i'm imperial and they apologise to me if they stop me lol

Mind clarifying? I mean, was it really immersive in any way for STs to be so easily killed? The Crackdown was a joke prior, and finally seems to be becoming what it should have been, at least in my opinion. I'm just curious to know why you feel the way you mentioned.

If by "normal" you mean "average", i would venture that most players would prefer a slight bit more immersion. It's not just roleplayers who thought it ridiculous that an elite player could take on a whole squad of stormies and not get scratched.
Anything that gets your excitement level up is good with me, and if that means random patrols of super-hard stormies then so be it.

I have mentioned this on other posts, but I think the crackdown kind of went the other way. I'm not against the new "NovaTroopers" or whatever they are. As long as it's realistic. A few here and there, or one or two mixed in with a squad seems reasonable, but they are all over. If they want to crack down, make it more like what we see in the movie. Instead of 15 Stormtroopers, have 50 or 100. They certainly had squads that size. I think instead of the single size, they ought to have different levels, based on the areas history of rebellion. In certain areas that have experience little problem with the Rebellion, just have a few small squads here and there (15-20 troopers). More problematic areas could have 50-100 StormTroopers, maybe with a few Nova Troopers mixed, or maybe a 3-4 man NovaTrooper group. In really bad areas, have 100-200, maybe an At-ST or even a Walker. Mix in the Uber dudes with the regs. I think this would be in line with what we see in the movie. THe Uber tropers should exist, but they should be rare. If you want to crack down, just send more men. The guy in the original post may be able to take up to 20 Storms, but 50? 100? That would be probably more exciting than fighting one Uber dude, and give more of a Star Wars feel I think.

Just my humble opinion.

I can tell you're going to love the new Faction Changes then. It's no longer a case of trying to stay away from them while you have a TEF... It will be trying to stay away from them all the time!

Personly as a Rebel I love the Crackdown but it has always lacked that punch to make me scared. As Rebels we should have to be extra carful& we should be the under dogs, but then again I am also some who thinks theres no fun in a game if you don't die alot at times.

I have to admit I am glad it wasn't in just now when I got home & logged in. There were two Nova Troopers at Entha Bank where I logged out - that would have been, errr... intresting?

I'm the same mood about not been able to wait though, it's gonna be risky been a Rebel, hopfully will really feel like the underdog, having to avoive certain Star Ports etc. Can't wait!!

Though I will be on Leave alot, stuff like the Friday Hunt's I go on are cross-factional.

But also - I can't wait to get my Marrine Armour on again!
