Is there any disadvantage to using Vibro Knuckles? For instance, does the damage they do replace the damage you do in unnarmed combat, or add to it? I assume speed and accuracy bonuses still apply, but I thought i'd ask.

Distance decreases.

When fighting large things (faambas) you will more than likely get the "target out of range" message while still getting beat on. Not sure if this is a bug or design which ever it is, it's annoying

Greatly increased HAM usage. Possibly due to buggy crafting.

You should see a speed increase, and your base damage will increase significantly. The +Unarmed Damage modifier applies to knucklers, so we have an advantage over other melee classes here. Essentially your base fist damage is being replaced by that of the knucklers.

Another alternative I prefer is using looted knucklers. They don't do as much damage and are slower then well crafted ones, but their HAM usage is equivalent to being unarmed.
