I've seen a number of more experienced TKA's talking about useing a ranged weapon to lure a ranged weapon NPC into melee combat. Currently im haveing a hard time getting this to work. A lot of my run-ins with these tend to end up in them kiteing me to death.
Any tips or surgestions on how to effectivly draw in a ranged NPC without becomming mince meat ?

My way is either get just close enough by running that they aggro you and then run about 100m from them, they usually run all the way up to me without shooting and instead they have there melee weapon out.

Get a gun, shoot that one npc and run back away pulling it away from the rest. It will try to get to you, shooting you. You can almost right away switch to a melee weapon, that will make the monster also change from ranged to melee and assault you.
From there on you are on your own, fight it like your life is on the line because for us it always is.

-Equip your gun
-Target the enemy
-Approach to 64 M
-Fire once
-Back off to 70 M immediately
-Quickly switch to knucklers
-MOST, I repeat MOST gun-using npcs I have seen will do something like kneel, go prone, or just stand around for several seconds with their gun in hand, looking at you. They'll then switch to a melee weapon and come charging for you.
-Kill
SOME gun users do not like to switch to melee; Stormtroopers I have noticed tend to keep shooting no matter what I do.
