Thread: Food Bug with PowerBoost?

The day of the last patch, I sent out a global letter to all my clients proclaiming the end of stat bugs in food. I've since recieved two replies from TKA players that claim it is still happening. Secondary stats seem to be going to 100/500 (likethe previous food bug) when these players take food or spice and puton/takeoff armor while powerboosting.

I'm not a TKA so I can't set up any tests, but has anyone else seen this signature? A small population seems affected, but I want to see a highly repeatable routine to bug this. I figure I might be completely misunderstanding the expected effects of powerboosting and I'd like your help if I'm way off.

So far: put on armor, powerboost, take food/spice (one uses glazed glucose pate, the other muon gold), fight, take off armor, food buff expire (leaving nasty effects). This seems to work less than half the time, but it happens enough to warrant a problem. If anyone can make it more repeatable, it would be great. Thanks.

I will cross-post on thechef boards.

I have found out the exact way this happens and how to avoid it and rectify it.

It happens when you use the Meditate skill while wearing armour, and when you have wounds to Mind and/or Focus.

What happens is if you /meditate while wearing armour and when Focus or Willpower has a wound on it, you take a hit to the particular mind stat that had the wound. This hit is exactly equal to the mind encumberance of your armour.

At this point, even if you remove your armour, you will see you are exactly short by the enumberance of yourt armour. Consequently when youequip your armour againyou are now taking twice the mind hit.

To prevent it happening, do not /meditate when wearing armour and you have wounds to either Focus or Willpower.

To recover from this you need to get more wounds to the stat that is affected and then do /meditate with your armour off. This will reset the particular stat to it's proper value.

This is fantastic...thanks for the reply.

I was hoping that food was not the culprit (we have had enough bugs, believe me ). I'll pass this down to my customers.

Yes, very good post. Happened to me last night with the armor messing up my secondary stats. Weird thing is I could still equip my adv. composite even though my stats were around 30, they would just go to 1. I just logged out and was hoping it would be fixed today

I have observed exactly what Raspi has, and have been meditating in my boxes for the past couple days. Note that it also affects health and action secondaries, not just willpower and focus.

It's not the food..

I am so glad to have a temporary workaround. Given enough time this makes the game almost unplayable as you cannot regen and you cannot do specials without certain incap. Thank you for the explanation.

Heavy,

Can we get this on the list of stuff the devs should look into? It is a very frsutrating bug to have to deal with.

well, this is a VERY annoying situation as I have twice the encumbrances after a boost... here s ascreenshot of the whcked stats ruining my gameplay atm:

I have also noticed a problem with all my secondary stats getting funky after a but of meditation/food/powerboosting but had no idea what the deal was. Hopefully the problem can be circumvented for the moment by not wearing aromor while meditating. I will try this and hope that it gets fixed sometime in the near future.

This is sorta off-topic, but I wanted to add my own suggestion for making the most of your powerboost.

When you boost, half of your total mind pool is slowly added to your health and action pools. If you migrate your stats all into your mind pool, you will have a much more effective powerboost. Furthermore, if you have an entertainer buff your mind, then eat mind-enhancing food, then eat mind-enhancing spice, all those effects will stack when you hit your powerboost, making you very powerful indeed.

Way to go sorting this out. I'll add it to our list of bugs.

I believe this no longer works as of the publish that altered your HAM character screen to show buffs, wounds and encumberance separately. It just uses your base mind value for determining the powerboost.
