Thread: Test Center Combat HAM Changes

Something interesting for you guys on TC to try out.

The devs are gradually reworking the way HAM is used in combat. This first step deducts you special moves cost from your max HAM value instead of doing "damage" to you. This reduction in max HAM will regen very quickly. Much faster than your normal HAM regen.

This is the first step in a very cool overhaul of the HAM combat system. Of course, I can't tell you about the rest, but I'm pretty excited about the whole thing.

For those of you on TC, if you find the regen rate is too slow, too fast, whatever, let me know. I'll do some testing over there myself, but more is always better. We can expect this system to be heavily tweaked, so don't panic if you don't like it.

Hmmm,is this the developers way of stopping spam?<3

Does this mean we can spam our ham down to 1/1/1 ?

Heavy can you explain in more detail this damage mitigation change? I read the post for those that havent heres the linky

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=TestCenter&message.id=39592

Im worried this may be a deathblow to all melee, from what im taking they will only take 40% of the damage now? If thats correct and I very well may be jumping the gun but that coupled with the HAM change is going to kill us. If you can tho please explain in better detail so I can calm my fears lol thanx

Oh ya one more thing, WHY DO THEY OVERHAUL SOMETHING BEFORE FIXING HALF THE CLASSES!!! I mean was not BH eyeshot supposed to be moved to Master like 3 months ago? Is carbineer not still broken? do Riflemen still have issues? what about Pikeman? I mean great there doing something but fix whats wrong before possibly breaking something else, I swear to god everytime I learn how to play a certain way they up and change the rules on me again :/

the mitigation looks nice, but the HAM changes seem a little scary. i'll have to test it to be sure, but it really looks like those of us who max mind and use healing (self or from groupmates) to offset health and action special costs will need to learn a new technique.

if we aren't supposed to spam specials to keep the target's attention, how are we supposed to keep our non-tank groupmates from being eaten?

does the mitigation apply to PvP? poor brawlers. (i know, off topic. sorry.)

Hmmm, gotta try it out sometime....

But does that mean Carbine is working better and now a BH will spam FKD w/o much penalty?

At least we have powerboost

I LOVE THIS CLASS! ! !

actually according to the person who first talked about the mitigation on TC (the pistoleer correspondant) he said he was able to actually spam specials more not less.

The HAM regen if MUCH faster than normal regen

Oh and mister_heavy there is no such thing as too fast HAM regen

Well it looks to me like ranged professions are getting ranged defense, so they will have no real advantage against us anyway. And vice versa. I persoally like those changes a lot, especially if regeneration increases the lower it gets.

Wow, these changes definitely sound intriguing. I'm not real sure how this will play out with those of us with med skills.
