Thread: An all around TK template

I'm looking for info on an all around TK Template that is best for PvE, but will still be good once I upgrade my lame duck comp. so I can do PvP. I am currently TKM and Master Brawler,with explore 3 and int. firstaid for the stim B useage. I also had master marksman but dropped it so I could try out the Pikeman tree. There really is only a few things in the game that I can't kill solo and really they are just anything that is high endFS (NS Elder, but she can't kill me either), and probably a krayet when I had master marksman. now that I havedropped it and am pikeman 0/1/0/3 along with TK and Brawler I am finding that things seem to go down a little easier but there really isn't much of a differance although the NS lance that I use does make things alot easier with the 2 DOTmodifiers it has.I hear tkm, mb, and master fencer or swordsman really rock too, so what do you guys recomend? TKM, MB, and Master Fenser or Master Swordsman orMaster Pikeman? Which template really isthe most well rounded smackdown layer for melee in mostly PvE but is still good for PvP?

Eh... To be totally honest if you want a "smackdown layer" for PvE and PvP go Swordsman. Don't do TKM, that's a waste. Take the meditation tree and some other skills for defenses, ignore the power line.
The problem is that TK doesn't deal out much damage. That and the fact that kinetic resistance is so common. Get an AP 2 powerhammer, 500 blast damage, and look for speed attachments. Plus in PvP you can really destroy people's mind pool.
I'm not knocking TK, but if you're trying to be superior in PvE and PvP and you're not doing TK because you love it, do swordsman.
Here's a good template...
Master Swordsman, Master Brawler, 4304 TKA, 3440 Fencer, 0030 Pikeman.
What does it get you? Check it out:
Combat Equilibrium +40 (helps recover from posture change instantly)
Counterattack +100 (this is what a Swordsman uses to avoid attacks)
Defense vs Blind +70
Defense vs Dizzy +75
Defense vs Intimidate +40 (surprisingly high)
Defense vs Knockdown +105
Defense vs Posture Change +100
Defense vs Stun +75
Melee Defense +151 (yeah overkill I know)
Ranged Defense +124 (one point away from the cap)
Those are some outstanding defenses for a swordsman. Plus you have Powerboost and Force of Will, and can meditate wounds away. If I wanted to be a Swordsman, this would be my template.

so withthat in mind, why not just do master swordsman then, because the almost unfortunate thing is that from launch I grinded TKM and have been using it ever since becuase I do love it...I guess I'll just finish pikeman and then try out the other trees and just see what I like best. Thanks for the info bud

Ah see, that is totally different. I'm like you, I love TKM and would never give it up.
Myself, I use a template of TKM, Master Brawler, Fencer 4440, and Pistoleer 0340. Everything is designed to complement my TKM. I get great defenses and all the good Pistoleer specials if I want to pull out a gun (plus I can use a Geo Blaster). I know it's not the best template but it's a fun one (last night I realized that some Nym NPCs that conned yellow to me couldn't hit me, I swear, they were prone shooting at me and hit me once out of every 20 shots, I normally don't pay attention to that kind of thing).
Swordsman is cool though. My best advice is try different things and keep what you like.

in pvp TK > swordsman in most situations... in PVE swordsman absoletely rules
If you go all out melee, make sure you have a chef which makes you different kinds of burstrun food
I'd only keep M brawler if you intend to PVP a lot

Actually, PvE is when Warcry2 is most useful, Intimidate2 is invaluable, and Lunge2 is great because even NPCs kite.

I hear that often. Please post a link to where that is stated officially. I'd love to see the real info on state defenses.

Well a dev stated that there is always a 10% chance for states.

I think I'm gonna finish pikeman and then if I don't like it I'll try one of the other ones and just go with the advice of trying al of them and keeping what I like, thinks for the info guys

May have a look at: Master Brawler/TKA/Sword/Fencer 0-0-4-0/Pike 0-0-1-0 and Novice Med....IMO Novice Med is a must have....

Doing mainly PvE this template should be fine...u can tank insane as an tka and outdamage with your sword...along with the ability to heal with stims "b"....doing more PvP u needto fixthe defense-stats...
