Thread: What am I doing wrong here?

After reading the forums and asking friends I heard that swordsman is good for PvE and highlvl mobs, but I went to the Geo Lab , buffed and 80% kinetic armor, and I am Master Swordsman. First of all, the darn kiwi almost kicked my ass, but when I got to the room with the 6 geonosians, I turned out to be my worst nightmare: they kiled me in like 30 seconds! What am I doing wrong here: should I also take up TKM or a ranged profession or do i need another weapon? I am now using a power hammer with 5.3 speed and dam around 300-600.

Well the Enchanced kwi usually kick most people's ass,but how did you manage to get hammered by the basic geo flying bee looking mobs, they are way easier than the kwi's, in fact they are the easiest mobs in the whole place, which pool did they kill out of interest, if it was your mind perhaps you need some mind food or a stun helmet (they sometimes have geo stun pistols dont they?)

the genos use ranged and melee weapons


best is to run into the room, try to melee all the genos and then use area3 till all are dead.

same goes for the klinkiks. when they stay at range, they are deadly (sort of).


food is essential (double brandy, double ahrisa, canapes and muon for regen)


i solo the lab in less than an hour (when its empty) with basically the same config.


a faster hammer may help as well. (speed instead of dmg slice).


and check the condition of your armor.

i would suggest using spin attack2 instead of area3, as it hit all around you. using spin2 i can drop 10 ns sentrys around me in under30 seconds.

area3 as well. and applies dizzy/posture down.


all melee area attacks are circles - most ranged are cones (exept pointblankarea iirc)

Guessing your not speed capped so you might want to try a speed sliced hammer, and some speed PuP's.

Let me ask you this? Did you use Intimidate on them? Do you have Center of Being going? Because I could solo the geo lab at 2/2/2/4 of swordsman.

Well the geo's do stun damage at ranged(they use the geo pistol, look at the anitmation andthe weapon in their handit is the same) so it will probably go right through that Composite. Also you may want to get a PSG for tough fights (even though they do not last long).

The reason you died is because they shot you with stun dmg which is what they do at range. It has nothing to do with your hammer, or food, or buffs, or anything else anyone is mentioning. The reason you died is because they went ranged on you and you weren't wearing stun armor. Without stun armor, their damage was going directly through your armor, it was as if you were wearing no armor at all. Geonosians are cake to kill once you get them to go melee on you.


Spin2 is a superior area attack to area3 for the non speed capped swordsman. It does identical damage, but at a faster speed, thus you deal more damage in any given amount of time. The posture down and dizzy effects of area3 are pointless, as they work about 1 out of 100 times, and even then dizzy/posture down can only knock down humanoid npcs, creatures like kwis wont stay down if you dizzy kd them.

the only reason the geno's would have killed you that fast, is because they were using their geo pistol's.. which is ranged

I made a character on TC Bria andeven with a +70 defence vs knockdown I was still getting KD.


And it isn't posture changes that are doing it.


Do I need to dabble in heavy swordsman to get even better KD protection?


The funny thing is that I battle other players with +70 defence to KD and I can't knock them down for the life of me!



Any suggestions?

with +70 def vs kd, you shouldn't get knocked down alot... some kind of bug *shrug* not sure..

First, are you fighting against the same template you have or no?


Either way, what are the templates?


Straight out unbuffed/unarmored duel?


Depending on how high Accuracy is the Defense vs. KD may not be high enough...
