Thread: Why does everyone say tka is so hard to master?
Ok I can only play every second day, and I got to master tka/doctor in about a month, and not really caring about xp, just wishing to get money... It was without competetion the easiest character mastery I have ever done in just about any online game...
So why do people keep saying it is so hard?
And I think that people greatly over-exaggerate this at times.

For me, it was not very difficult, so much as it was tedious. I'm inclined to agree with Mister Heavy as far as comparing it with a ranged profession.
I achieved Novice Rifleman in under 2 weeks of casual play. Kiting Bantha or hanging in the background and carefully picking out targets at the Tusken Camp (not there any more) and Fort Tusken. It wasn't difficult and I could bring in 3k a kill easily.
Compare this to unarmed, which I was raising before there was a VK cert so I was alot better off then most people. I killed thousands of Thugs outside of various cities. Armor encumbered me greatly comparative to the protection it gave (Advanced Armor was not avaliable at the time, Mabari was the best crafters were putting forth). So I went without armor. Not much offered in the way of protection then so I took a beating. I was Master Medic, which helped greatly, but it seemed I was always taking hits the the head. Another thing I attribute to my difficulty was ignorance. I did not take the time to learn what each skill did.So Intimidate's use was unknown to me. For the most part. I traded blows. Now, I know better.
Anyway, to aspiring masters, I will offer the advice of Dizzy+Posture Change is a great combo when leveling. So if you have a few points to spare, (temporarily if needed), go up the 1 handed tree and get 1 handed dizzy 1. Find a NPC mob you get decent exp against that you can take some shots from. Hit him with dizzy and then a posture change. This will, alot of the time, keep them down and allow you to switch to knucklers or unarmed and whack away. If you have a Master Brawler friend, convince them to help you out. They have the use of warcry2, which will buy you 20 seconds to accomplish this. Once you get unarmed dizzy 1 you'd be able to drop those 1 handed skill boxes.
Beyond this, you can find a friend or group. Most guilds will help you. My Guild Master and I were running Bol missions and he let me have at the bases for example, since the Bol resistances prevented me from getting any kind of decent exp off them. Friends is the greatest asset you can have here on SW:G.
To give you and idea,
1. Didn't know I could use VK's no speed bonus until halfway through unarmed 4.
2. Didn't have a second class to lean on(some do some don't).
3. The times I can play there are very few other people that I can find to group with.
4. Didn't know any doctors and didn't have the money for doctor buffs. Spent all my cash on stims and armor.
If you climb the tree starting as brawler with novice medic and novice scout it is a different game than if you have bleeds, pets and buffs. It is also more difficult than if you have high level parties to go out with that will let you tap the lairs to get xp faster. Now it would be much easier because I have made contacts to get through unarmed 1- tkn.
Just a guess.
TKA is sooo easy to master if you just pay attention to game dynamics.
Hint #1 - You get a group xp bonus when grouped, and if your fellow group member(s) dont do any damage then you get the entire ball of xp plus the bonus. If you have a head on your shoulders and not in an orifice then you can figure out how to get a group bonus + 100% group xp...
Hint #2 - Killing Meatlumps will NOT get you to TKA master, you might actually have to progressively kill harder things to get the same exp you were once getting at lower skills. Unarmed XP goes down every time you add a skill, say I am 1-0-2-1 and gain a skill and go all the way to 1-1-2-1, Guess what? Those meatlumps will go from 200 xp per kill to 170 or something like that. These are not actual numbers, just an example.
Hint #3 -Use your specials, duh
Hint #4 - Don't grind on "long" creatures since they back up out of range constantly and Don't grind on ranged creatures or npcs, I think this is self explanitory
Hint #5 -There are 2 types of creatures as far as I am concerned, those that assist thier own kind and those that don't. Be a smartie and find the ones that don't.
Hint #6 - Mission creature nests tend to have as little as 10% of the creatures a non mission nest holds. Also Mission nests are named according to what is in them. A Bantha Lair contains Banthas, but A Mound could also hold Banthas and hold alot more Banthas at that. Again this is not a solid numbers example but it will illustrate what i mean, a Ronto Lair from a mission holds 3 waves of maybe 3-4 rontos at most, A non-mission generically named lair containing rontos may have as many as 3 waves of 8-10 each. Not hard to figure out which is a faster way to xp and do less running/searching.
The hardest part of TKA is finding the right mobs to kill but once that is done you're all set. Only took me a month or 2 to master TKA while mastering smuggler at the same time. I do not consider myself a powergamer although i do have time to play more than most.
Go punch stuff now
