Thread: Kata's
when you hit tkn you should get some kata's you can do unstead of meditation. Put them in the TKN box but have them actthe same as ifyou are meditating. We need something to show off our fighting prowess besides sitting on our knees. I mean if they were only just emotes that would rock.
But this could go for all the elite melee professions. Give them special emotes for that profession that does a kata.
although a cool idea, but honestly one more buff or added patch specificly to TK and all the other melee class's will riot.
i can provide proof that other melee class's can compete well with us in pvp, and win alot of the times, as well as outperform us in PVE, but their is a persona about TKs right now, that we are very powerfull, and maybe even over powered.
even the brawler corespondant came out and said we were, but that doesn't mean he is right.
no we are not over powered, but alot of people think we are, and since we only spend the same points as a pikemen, we are now being compared to a pikemen and people are asking,.....why?
we should never have been compared to other melee, because other melee are in fact on the short end too, only can be compared to viable pvp class's and thats what the devs did, and thats why the TK seems strong, because we can compete.
in short, i think for a while its a good move to not ask for anythign new for TKA, for the simple fact that people are upset that we are winning a few fights, and there are alot , and i mean ALOT of real real cocky 14 year olds moving to our class, that think they are Gods gift to PVP, and act like it.
thats giving us a real bad name, and im fearfull of my beloved TKA proffession, and what the noobs will do it to before its all said and done.

Ya, guess what this got Pistoleers? Nerfed. I seem to recall that the dev's comment went something along the lines of: Pistoleers aren't complaining, they must be overpowered. I was a master pistoleer at the time. People will always complaing about losing because they are convinced they have some uber-template, but no brains to back it up. If you think TKM is the end-all, be-all of melee, you've never been bashed in the head with a power hammer, or skewered by a fencer. The bleeds alone are enough to lay waste to a TK.
We MUST keep up the conversations regarding our shortcomings. TKM is powerful --up-close--. Duh. As we absolutely should be. Do we have shortcomings? Absolutely, as we should have.
Pros:
Speed
Damage
Meditation tree: wound healing, powerboost (like our own mini-buff, probably equivalent to icky doctor B buffs except that we get mind too), force of will
Can target any pool
KD2
Able to unequip weapon and still be effective.
Cons:
Only one kind of damage
HAM costs for specials with our --only-- weapon equipped
Kiting, due to extremely limited range.
Limited AP (AP 1 max)
Excessive wounds caused by being melee
Meditation tree: wound healing (still get BF, and lots of it as melee), force of will (who the hell thought up an hour long timer to go with the possibility of 300 wounds --for each bar--?)
No DOT
TKM is an excellent profession, either by itself, or as a compliment to another. But we are not "uber" and we are certainly not over-powered. Peope get pissed off when the person with the TK title comes in and steals their FS or DT kill because we can pump out some pretty impressive raw damage in a short time FOR a short time. Put on those VK unbuffed and see how long those specials last. Nevermind the fact that a master pistoleer can do the same thing, every second, with an AP1 weapon, to MULTIPLE targets. Or a commando hitting an area with flamecone2, etc, etc...
Any master SHOULD be powerful in their area. That's the only reason to aspire to the title.
Bahh didn't read your entire post. You did mention that all melee professions need a kata.
My bad.
