I am looking to make a few changes to my character, but as i am a master weaponsmith i can only free up a certain amount of points, so my choices have to be made very carefully. I would love to become master TKA, so that i can get more involved i combat. Here are some of my ideas:

Master Weaponsmith

Artisan 4-0-4-4

Master TKA

Medic 4-?-?-? (9 pts spare, to put into medic, i don't have much knowledge of medic so i don't know what would be best)

Master Weaponsmith

Master TKA

Artisan 4-0-4-4

Scout 3-0-4-0

or...

I could possibly drop all my business section from Artisan (my partner can manage the vendors), freeing up some more points for:

Master Weaponsmith

Master TKA

Artisan 4-0-0-4

Medic 4-0-0-0

Scout 1-0-2-0

The main areas of advice i am looking for is how to distribute the spare points between scout and medic, and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Depending on how involved in Combat you want to be, and whether it is PvP or PvE, I would probably go the:

Master Weaponsmith

Artisan 4-0-4-4

Master TKA

Medic 4-?-?-? (9 pts spare, to put into medic, i don't have much knowledge of medic so i don't know what would be best)

This would allow you some nice healing ability, but you won't have Terrain Negotiation to run after a creature.

Master Weaponsmith

Master TKA

Artisan 4-0-0-4

Medic 1-0-0-0

Scout 4-0-2-0

Might be a better choice, as you would have Terrain Negotiation and still an ability to do decent heals in Combat.

Ah yeah the terrain negotion will be pretty essential i guess. With only medic 1-0-0-0 what will the healing be like?

Well, I kept Novice Only, and with good Stim Bs I can heal for 350 to 650 per heal...

IMHO getting medic skills for yourself is overrated. If you PvP you should have a CM that tosses area heals and if you PvE you should be able to get by without stims by occasionally using food instead. With that in mind I would go:

Master WS
Master TKA
Artisan 4043
Scout 4040

The reason for the scout hunting is to make more use of PvE killing mobs by harvesting meat/hides/bones to sell and you can keep almost all your artian skills. You can switch the business to survey if you actually sample but 3 is enough for placing harvestors without having to survey to often. If you really want medic skills I would just get novice as you can use stim Bs with just novice and drop whatever you feel is not as important to you from business, surveying, terrain negotiation, and hunting.

I was in the same boat not too long ago. I was ch/pistoleer as well as Master Armorsmith but found that I wasn't self sufficient enough to do the bigger things even with great BE pets. As I stand now I am Artisan 4,0,0,0, Master Armorsmith, Master Brawler, TKM and either scout or medic 1,0,0,0.

Honestly the points into survey IV is a waste to me considering that I with mounts and vehicles you can jump on and off your bike/mount pretty fast survey and keep going. I have one of my toolbar configurations set with my survey tools, /surveyresources, /mount and /dismount in the hot keys. The way I do it is I ride my swoop and keep it targeted.. open up your survey tool screen before starting, locate the resource or keep riding and mounting or dismounting til you do. Once you locate the resource it is a matter of dismounting... surveying.. mounting and following the lead. Once you have this set up you will start to be able to locate your resources much fasterleaving me with another 14 points to use somewhere else.

I also have someone else manage my vendors for me so I don't have any business or merchant anymore so if you can go that way it will save you another 14+ points.

I switch between scout 1,0,0,0 and medic 0,1,0,0 depending on what I am doing. I am usually buffed when I go do any serious fighting so for harvesting I usually have scout and for tough npcs or pvp I drop it and pick up medic. I decided to invest my points in Master Brawler to try it out and have been enjoying it so far. Intimidation/warcry 2 can be quite valuable at times and unarmedlunge2 I am loving being able to kd something from 20 meters away. Also having a few different weapons is fun even though you are not really capable of dealing the damage that you can with TKM. Switching weapons you will find out fast how much your unarmed toughness does do for you in reducing the melee damage that you take.

As someone mentioned in one of the posts above it all depends on what you mainly want to participate in.. pve or pvp.. or a bit of both. Also do you like to fight solo doing pve or pvp? It makes a big difference in using your skills to the max if you have complimenting professions in your group and fight regularly with a couple friends.

If you post a bit more with what you are looking to do I may be able to offer some better advice but hope that what I did helps you.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice. It is true i could drop a few more points from my artisan class, such as the surveying, as i already have an incredible warehouse of resources, plus my business partner handles all the harvesting.

I am looking to take up the skills purely for PvE reason, sick of being killed by low level creatures, plus it'd be nice to be able to go and try and do the missions for new schematics myself. At the moment i am still unsure as to allocate my spare points between medic and scout... so any other advice will be appreciated.

If this is the case then I would drop artisan to 4000. If you place your vendors prior to dropping your business skills your vendors will remain and you can continue to use them without the skills (you can do everything you normally could do with your vendors except move them). Many people usually get the business line of merchant, place their vendors, then drop it completely.

As far as the surveying goes it seems that you could do what my friend and I do. He has survey and he just mails me the wp of any resource spawns that I may be interested in. I have no artisan skills and just drop harvestors as close to the wp as I can.

Now you have MWS, TKM, artisan 4000, scout 4040, novice medic, and 8 more skill points to put where ever you want in medic.
