After some grinding yesterday, I finally Mastered TK. Took me alittle under 2 weeks with casual gaming, and occasional grinding. The over all process was definetly fun. Upon hitting mastered i tried out Unarmed 3 on a friend who was unarmored and unbuffed, and The result was very good. However, i faced a few Fencers and totally got owned.

I am quite pleased with TK, I just hope I can actually benefit from it in PvP. I'm hoping (much like everyone else) to be able to get a Blacksun Razor Knuckler when the patch drops, and then being able to do some damage in PvP.

After mastering TK I then went on to do One-Handed I-IV and will be persuing novice fencer tonight. I plan to have Master TK, Master Fencer, And Master Medic (Currently I Have Mastered Medic and TK) and I'm hoping to have some good defenses from Fencer. The ability to use a Stun Baton makes it all the worthwhile i think, and once that RK comes out, I feel TK will be all the more worth it.

Any comments from anyone out there with similar templates? How do you think I will fair in PvP and PvE with Master TK, Master Fencer, And Master Medic? Also keeping some scout for TN.

No longer holding out hope, SWG will never be the game we fought so hard for, that we believed so much in. Farewell friends.

Hahah exact same template as you propose

PvE: You will do just fine solo and in groups. The Master Medic really keeps you going if your buffs are failing, or you get in a tight spot with several mobs hitting you solo. In a group you will be able to tank AND help your group out if it gets into trouble from aggros from different sides.

I'm finding I can approach almost any PvE encounter, and if I'm ready for it (buffed and armored etcetc) I feel confident I have a good chance of getting through it, surviving and mostly winning. Only thing that gets hard are anything with medium armor and kinetic resists (Geo Kwis and Klikniks come to mind). And of course there are many fairlyimpossible things like the NS Elder and her SMC equivalent, or the uber Tusken.

PvP: TKM + Fencer is your mainstay here. The medic part may help somewhat, but most of the time it's mind-attacks that you have to worry about, and you can't heal that of course. However, you're pretty deadly up close with stun baton against comp armor, and TKA attacks against unarmored, or partially unarmored foes (Trandoshans and Wookiees especially). Fencer's Scatter Hits also have a habit of finding armor holes.

A couple thoughts

-Gratz on masterhood:

-Mixing any other profession with TKM is a good idea. Having multiple damage types at your disposal is important in PvE and PvP. The ability to do just kinetic damage is our one major weakness and spreading out the skillpoints to other professions resolves this.

-Master Teras Kasi + Master Brawler + anything else performs surprisingly good. You get intimidation2, warcry2, and lunge2 (20m reach)...all of which, when used correctly, can decide the end of a battle. I have been a TKM+MB+MHS & TKM+MB+Blademaster & now, back to my roots TKM + MB + Smuggler. In pvp and pve, the first 2 performed exceptionately well...especially fencer, although heavyswordsman was ruthless if I got a KD in and then whipped out my 700 damage powerhammer and did mind hit3's.

-While I have found that only being unarmed can be limiting, I still do very well in PvP...I just have to be more careful on how i pick my fights and to use a bit more strategy.

The main thing I can say is the Razor Knuckle won't help in PVP as much as you think. As most armor anymore is 80%+ resist to everything BUT stun, which on my server about 38% stun is an average resist. So heat damage won't help or hurt you anymore than kinetic damage. I have also seen VK that are over 200 max dmg, just like the RK. Like someone else said fencer is what you will want to use in PVP primarily, because of the stun baton.

Now a question of my own is this, why do I hear so many TKM's say they are worthless in PVP? This is not meant as a troll/flame question, but serious as I do hear that often. I see a good VK, w/ AP1, versus 80% kinetic armor, attacking every second, plus dizzy/KD. I am curious as to how this is bad. I mean I'm picking up TKM to be better in PVP, maybe it's just commando is that bad in PVP...hehe.

Its because TKA *is* good in PvP but its not the best. It might have been at some point about a month or two ago, but a large portion of this is Flavor of the Month. What happens is someone out there hits upon a combination of skills that no one else really has bothered to use or protect against then when that person starts doing really well, everyone else jumps on the bandwagon.

Eventually, players figure out how to defend against it, and since everyone else is using it, soon everyone is defending specifically against that profession's abilities. So, the cycle starts again and a large number of people move on to another profession.

It happened to BH, and is happening to TKA right now(although we are nearing the end of the cycle on TKA). The bottom line is TKA is good, but because of where we are at in the cycle right now, everyone has defenses in place to guard against TKA, so people are finding they aren't as "uber" as they used to be anymore with it and are moving on to try different stuff(or at least make TKA abilities secondary to their main forms of attack).

We are good, but we aren't the best, and right now most people are set up to defend specifically against us in PvP.
