Thread: a dreadful sense of deja vu....

Well, after a few days of driving around, I finally found some mobs near my level. (CL 55: arachne drones and other miscellaneous mobs on Endor, near the science outpost.) I was able to eat some Vagnerian Canapes and drink some Vasarian Brandy to buff up. With a little practice, I was able to take out some blues, just one level below me, with only a 30% loss of hit points. Then I would med for two or three minutes and start again. I only need to kill about 500 to 600 mobs at that level to get another combat skill and thus another level (or 2, I'm not sure what goes into the combat level).

Hmmm..... killing lots of low level mobs..... buffs..... blues..... do nothing for several minutes..... oh dear gods!!!

I'm playing EverQuest!!! Please let this be a dream..... please let me wake from this horrible nightmare!!!

If I want to play Everquest, I have an account! Why should I play SWG if it's just EQ with a Star Wars skin? Why should I be bored live in front of my keyboard for $15 a month? Why should I spend hundreds of hours killing animal mobs just to get back to where I was before?

If I don't find a viable way to solo and get back my previous level of name-taking soon, I might as well cancel my SWG account and go back to EQ (which, since EQ2, is delightfully low on crowded areas and has a wicked high framerate even with all graphics settings maxxed out -- although I confess I haven't been to the West Freeport gate recently to test the FPS ;-) ).

Don't be fooled. Thenozzle nowrunning this game, the beast known as the Anti-Koster, is trying to turn SWG into EQ.

If you're waiting for soloing, you'll be there for a while...

I solo almost all the time. If I want mobs my level I go get two missions at once wich gives me four to six mobs and about 20k in credits. With my template I have no prob soloing three yellow npc's at once and I then heal myself up and keep going. If you can't solo you need to work on your template. I also used to play EQ and think SWG is nothing like it.

I agree that solo'ing should not be as easy as it was but I have to say I am sick of hearing people say "work on your template".

I really am not against the CU, I actually like it.I am against being forced to play proffessions I don't want just to become somewhat viable solo.

In the beginning the devs were trying to weed out proffession dabblers, now with the CU they are actually forcing it.

Ironic isnt it.

I have no problems solo'n lvl 83-84 mobs on dath, with my style of play. TKM is not nerfed, is just not the l33t FOTMit used to be,true wedon't do as much damage as before, so it takes maybe 45 seconds to 1 min. longer to kill stuff, don't see the problem.

I have found that soloing and getting XP are two compleatly different things. I am a Master Swordsman - Master Pikeman - Master Brawler - Some of TKA and i can solo one or two level 80-90 mobs without a problem. Do I get mass ammounts of XP for this feat? NO! I dont. The trick to get XP is to go get a hunting group and taunt 1 or 2 level 80+ mobs out at a time, when its close enough everyone blasts the thing and its on to the next. This worked great for me when i was working up my trees and if done properly you can get about 400k XP a lair even without 2x XP week. By the way take advantage while you still can todays last day and 12k XP for each Bol is great.

I'm not sure why some people are having such a problem playing solo.

Grab a couple of missions so you'll have the mobs to fight, plus you'll get some cash. Then try and pull the mob's one by one, I find taunt does this resonably nicely if the mobs aren'y to close and don't auto agro. With the auto agro mobs I generally have no probs getting them to attack one at a time .

Use COB and armor break they really help, I also take the time to use power boost before each lair. Doing this I find I have no probs killing single mobs 3-4 lvls above me. It's only when they gang up on me that I need to use my Doctor skills.

Hope this was of some help
