A little cheesed about this, unsurprisingly.

I was testing out attacks just now, working out what was good or bad for the efficiency. I don't happen to have a stopwatch, but on the other hand I'm a musician by profession so I can hold a beat

Fighting equal con (lvl 75) huf duns:

Melee Strike did 402 net damage in 3.5 beats.
Advanced Combo did 552* net damage in 6 beats.

The math is painfully obvious. Melee Strike is vastly superior in DPS (or should that be DPB? ) to the theoretically advanced teras kasi attack. This really, really needs to be addressed.

*allowing for the reported damage bug and therefore calculating net damage from verbose combat spam by subtracting resisted damage from potential.

err, and melee hit?

because so many TKA got melee HIT as default auto attack

if its crappy maybe i should do melee STRIKE as default auto attack?

don't forget that advanced combo uses a LOT of action for the dmg it does.

i find myself using melee hit, strike, and improved head hit (from swordsman) as my spammable damage dealers.

headhit seems to do more damage than combo, and for the same -if not less- action cost.

"headhit seems to do more damage than combo, and for the same -if not less- action cost."

You are completely correct. Most TKA are taking Swordsman or even Pikeman to get the offence that partners our (supposed) defence)

the beauty (or bane, depending on your point of view) is that you can use any melee attack with any melee weapon, in the CU.

so, YES, you can use headhit while unarmed or wearing knuckles...or with a pike or with a fencer weapon, for that matter.
