Hey guys, I was once a TKA with some commando, but am thinking of what to respec as


I wouldnt mind keeping TKM but dont know what else to take. I hear commando is rough these days, esp without other trees to add rooting and stuff.


Would taking master brawler help out alot? I think im gunna snag Doc 4000, i hear thats pretty helpful.


Maybe someone could tell me what the deal with taking TKM and Master Swordsman is? Wouldnt using the sword take away the bonuses from TKA?

It would be awesome to hold my own in a fight.


Also, one last thing, It says that im Combat Level 58. Does that go up with exp?

First, combat level is based on how many blocks you have in combat related professions. A master of one elite combat prof, with no other combat blocks, is level 54. A master of two elite combat profs is level 80, which is the max level.


Second, there are weapon specific and general bonuses to melee/ranged defenses and weapon accuracy and speed. Fighting unarmed or with VK's will give you different numbers for melee/ranged defense and weapon accuracy and speed than fighting with a power hammer. Generally (derived from numbers by respec'ing my toon with different professions), fighting unarmed or with VK's gave better defenses, and fighting with Swordsman weapons gave better accuracy and speed.


The neat thing is that you can use swordsman specials without having to use a sword. You can 'mind hit' unarmed or with a power hammer. Also, using a sword or power hammer won't negate the innate armor that the Teras Kasi have.


Third, and I haven't actually played around with commando, but my impression is that commando is best mixed with ranged classes than melee classes, since commando gets to use certain profession specific weapons, but gets no specials like pistoleers, carbineers, or riflemen get.


As for the rest, a TKM that is also Master Doc may not deal much damage, but sure can absorb a lot. It depends on your playstyle. Being able to heal yourself helps solo play, but if you play with a group that has healers, then you could concentrate on a damage dealing template that also has defenses.


Check the template threads, you will find many nuggets of info.
