Thread: Concerning medic skills in Melee templates

Right now, I am TKM/MFencer/MBrawler with Swordsman 0044 and Novice Pikeman. I am loving my template. I do a crapload of damage, my defenses and accuracy are awesome, and I look good while doing it. So no "I'm such a gimp" shtick here.

However, I see a LOT of tanks with CM or doctor in their template. How many of you do this? And for those of you who are fully combat spec'd like I am, how do you beat toons who can heal themselves? Do any of you feel that some sort of healing ability is a necessity for melee fighters?

To be honest, I think a TKM, MPike with 4000 Doc would beat you in a duel as he would just heal away the damage you do while you wouldnt be able to heal his damage as you can only heal every minute. The fight would go on for a while but in the end I am confident you would lose.

I hate that fact but thats the way the game is.

I happen to have two melee toons, one without the DOC and one with.

Is there any way, with melee specials, to stop a doctor/CM from healing? Like some sort of stun or dizzy or somesuch?

nope, my template is the TKM/Master Pike/Doc4 and i can easily use bacta infusion to tick heal, and bacta shot which heals for around 600ish without healing clothes, and if you end up damaging me more than i can heal away, i will just intimidate and warcry...really helps to get chances to heal.

How much and quick does bacta infusion heal? I tend to go with CM if I ever want a medic tree in my templates as you get 3 heals all on differenet timers.

I'm TKM/MD/MB and I can tank all day

I'm probably going to drop the MB to help out my wife's Tailor by gathering hides (under the thumb... henpecked... etc. )

The combination of the Doc buffs (especially the speed) and the 3 heals I have available mean it's darn hard to kill me, and my damage output is pretty high.

I too am Master Pikes TKM Doc 4000. I have won every duel I've been in (except vs jedi) simply by outlasting my opponents. The healing power is essential vs ranged rooters and jedi.Extra defenses are worth nothing compared to the healing power of bacta infusion. When others are out of action, they can't do anything. When I'm out of action, I canswitch tomy mind pool and catch up on my heals.

I am very proud of my template. I came up with it on the first day of respec and never looked back. If you're looking for the best non-jedi tank, I suggest you try it out.

P.S. I would say that TKM is necessary simply due to the insane speed at which armor currently decays when you are playing a tanking role.

/agree on all, especially the pride in the temp. I specced Mswords/TKM/0004 doc on my first respec, 4000 doc on my second, havent typed /respec since. Also, as others said, if you fight me with no Doc or Cm, i will win. Healing is vital nowadays to seriously compete in this jediful world, and stims just dont cut it. Also, imo, 4000 doc is far better than 4000 cm, less skillpoints and far more efficient healing. You say you havent lost a duel, bet you havent gone against a ranged/cm, those are nasty especially if they know what theyre doing. Ive lost 3 so far against them, they were all very good fighters though.

I wouldn't be TOO proud, guys. You're basically twinking, sacrificing good clean tanking power for the flavor of the month. I mean, honestly. The big melee/melee/doctor 4000 secret is out.

Personally, I think it's a shame that to be the 'best' tank, you have to take what's basically a non-combat profession. That sucks hardcore. I couldn't bring myself to do it, even if it would have meant winning more duels and being uber. The idea of it just makes me feel dirty.

I'm also disappointed that NOBODY else came forward to say that they're doing well without Doctor in their template. :/ Poo to that.

I knew it would be fotm first time i played it I tried my best not to mention how good it is to anyone (except one friend). The pride comes from knowing you had the build before practically anyone else. Im not saying i was the first, but i was one of them. I dont feel dirty for having a fotm build, although it does suck that most people that see me will think i respecced into it cause its fotm

I know I don't feel "dirty" having gone the doc 4000 path.

My first respec was to TKM/DM/Pikeman 0220, but found that I was taking to long to kill anything, so switched across to the TKM/SM/Doc 4000 and pretty much went this is a great solo fun build. I've tried several othe builds since then but have decide I'm gonna stick with my TKM/SM/Doc 4000.

Really don't care if it is flavour of the month, as I know I picked the melee/doc build when everyone was saying how naff melee and doc had become.

My current temp is TKM, MS, MB, 3/4/4/0 Pike, and I do fine without Doc or CM, have I thought about adding some to be able to heal faster, yeah, done it, no.
