It is a good point! We cant use armor so they should do something about it!

Lots of TKs do use battle armor from swordsman/fencer/pikeman. Its possible to get better protection through this route than by just innate alone. Don't nerf them in your cries for equality.

The swordsman/pikeman use armor because when they equip with a sword or pike they loose a portion of their melee and range defenses; and thus loose some of the benefits of "stacking" melee professions. In addition, they get to use amor attachment bene's that are in their armor.
Saphie is a level 70 TKM Swords (0444), artisan, dancer. She uses no armor and fights unarmed. However, she is able to use the sword specials while just using her hands, a nice thing to be able to do. She doesnt do the damage that a Master Swordsman does with a sliced hammer, but, we will take what we can get. Her job it to TANK and attract mobs. The really wacked thing is she is pretty handy with a sliced Elite carbine, though she has no range weapon skills, and does almost as much damage with that as she does with her combo attack. Bah! Go figure! Of course as soon as she equips it her defenses drop much lower, so she doesnt use it against opponents who use range weapons.
Armor Break is your friend, and the group members will love you a lot more if you make sure that is always sticking on those particularly high level beasties. I find area taunt makes my riflemen and bounty hunter group mates happy as well, especially when some bozo in the group uses an area attack on a crowd of mobs ("They will learn...if they live long enough.")

no, innate armor is not affected by melee weapons.. actually, I get a better defence using my pike (I'm TKM MPIKE= pike toughness+innate armor)
