Thread: Don't Delete or Quit...Pull A Walk Out

Ok....this may sound stupid to some...but I think in the long run it leads to the least amount of regrets and doesn't hurt anyone while at the same time sending a clear message....

Don't delete your character...you'd regret that if they fix the issue (imagine having to start over)...

And if you delete your swg account....again...what if they fix the issue...you might feel foolish later....

I think a better protest is an online walk-out...I have worked in the past with online companies...they always have someone, or a group of someones, watching the traffic on servers for anything weird (heavy traffic, server slow downs, etc...)...imagine if at a specified time and day the traffic dropped significantly (even for a few hours if not 24)...this would send them into ascramble to find out the issue...what went wrong...it would send them a message...sure, it wouldn't damage anything and they wouldn't lose any money, but it would show them what it would feel like if all those people quit playing for good...they would see something like 50K sessions dropping down to 20K sessions....now compute that by 14.95 per month and they will get the message...they will want to keep the business...they will listen...and it's a peaceful protest...

I'm sure there are other professions/people upset over this latest update who might join this group in the walk-out...Just pick a date and time....how long people should stay off for...and spread the word...make sure to use that walk out time to send e-mails to SWG and let them know why you are taking the day off from playing...be nice...I bet they'll move quick to fix things...after all, the customer is always right...

Just my thoughts...feel free to ignore them...

Ifg you cancel your subscritpion you will be vable to finish out the month and renew on the last day with no consequence! If we all cancel our account today it will send a much clearer message. In fact I am going to cancel my account right now. THere is no risk in canceling your account at all. If the end of the month comes, and you still feel like you want to keep the game, renew at that time. You do not lose anything at all. Canceling is much better than walking out!

I agree canceling your account won't hurt you, you can always restart. You can check if you want under there policy about canceling but most companies keep your account for 6-12 months before they delete it after cancelation.

Did I see somewhere where they said that cahracters would be kept for 5 days before they were deleted or is this wrong?

Pulling a walk out is probably exactly what ill do since the $15/month doesnt hurt me in the slightest. I will most likely not play at all for a week or two atleast, effective immediately.

To make a walkout work, it has to be done in volume and you HAVE TO send SWG a message to let them know exactly why you aren't playing...otherwise they may just think people are losing interest and try to fix something else non-related...

Do you suggest we email them? Or do you have another plan?

I suggest all TKA's move onto Tempest and flood it with Novice Entertainers.

I am the most powerful TKA on Shadowfire, and this patch absolutely screwed me and my other TKA friends over.

Until they do a fix, I'll be a Novice Entertainer on Tempest.

Only message SOE will undertsand is if they receive mass account cancellations, even if 5 minutes later you resume your account. I am sure they track account cancellations... I sure as heck would!

If you're really upset cancel your account and wait til the last day and decide to renew again or not. It sends a clear clear message to the bean counters when they receive a lot of account cancellations.

Your risk? None. Even if you fail to renew before the renewal date the cancelled character policy keeps your character intact for however long they specified.

Just do yourself a favour and shut down all your harvesters/houses etc so you don't lose them either way!

I suggest either planning a 1 day walk out...or as a previous post said, take a week off...but altogether at the same time...all of us...At the same time, send a message to SWG's Tech support or customer center to let them know why you've decided to take the time off...a combination of a significant drop in server sessions combined with a sharp rise in e-mail complaints will send a clear message.

Ringe is suggestingcompletely deleting your account, which according to him, won't take effect until the end of the month...but I amvery cautious of this...1) because I stillenjoy the game...I'll just try something else in game if they don't fix things...or I'll get bored and move on to another game...maybe back to TSO....2) what if Ringe is wrong and my character gets deleted early...then they fix the issue and I'm out all that xp...ouch...

Plus, a lot of times these big companies (one of which I use to work for) don't look at their daily numbers...they look at their numbers at the end of the month/quarter (how many adds vs. drops they did)....so deleting your account today won't send a message until the bossman receives the report several weeks from now....by then your account is totally lost....do you want to take that chance...if so...go ahead...it might help the rest of us who still want to play...

The ONLY way you are going to hurt Sony is in the POCKET BOOK! They don't give a rats @$$ if you do a walk-out (or whatever you call it). Hurt the income, you hurt the stock. Hurt the stock, you piss off the investors. Piss off the Investors, Sony kisses your ass and gives you what you ask for.
