Thread: A simple solution?

Okay well were all familiar with the fact that any melee class is useless in pvp vs a ranged class because of kiting. Well, i'm sure this has been mentioned before (though i havent found any thread that mentions it) why not just give melee classes a speed modifier? It could give a constant bonus to movement speed much like the scout and rangers terrain negotiation bonus', but it could apply to all movement. It could be small but enough so that a meleer could catch up to a ranged person. Also, perhaps give the largest speed bonus' to the highest level of each tree and the master level, to keep ranged fighters from gaining just a few levels in a melee class to kite them. Is there some problem with doing this that i'm not aware of?

Your idea is a partial solution to the problem. However, the other problem is lag between the client and server. I havePvP versus one of my friends for fun. Multiple times I havelost not because he's kiting me, well within range od my vibros, but because of the lag.So, if the Devs increased the range of vibros, thelag wouldn't be a problem that would solve part of the problem as well.

Yes, there is. The Devs have decided, unilaterally, that Ranged Fighters can run and fire at full speed. They won't consider any speed reduction whatsoever. It is obvious that none of them have any combat training.

What i proposed is not a reduction for ranged fighters, but a bonus to melee fighters. This would represent (along with the melee damage and speed bonus') how the melee person has trained there body to be stronger and swifter. Much like how ranged fighters get accuracy bonus' to show how they've steadied there hands from constant use of there chosen weapon.

Ah, I apologize then. But all the Dev's will see is the *relative* reduction in the ranged combatant's speed, even if their actual speed stays the same! It won't fly with them. But it is a good suggestion.
