With TK I have seen many go without armor and a bunch with it. My queston is can you actualy survive with buffs and no armor? Or wasI just seeing people before the patch that fixed the defence stacking. Thanks for the help.

Well, as a Zabrak TKM / MD, I have a full suit of composite hiding on my droids. It will stay there until the day the Devs make decay apply to Droid Storage Compartments.. then it's going in the Corellia Bank.

With full buffs, I can solo any mission lair in the game, even the 20k credit high difficulty ones. It's really not too hard, I just make sure I have some Brandy on hand in case I get a little over my head, and out of my Mind, pun intended.

I've found that armor is more a hindrance than a benefit, especially as applies to the Mind secondaries. Wearing armor makes the HAM costs of specials go up significantly. My usual cost for an /unarmed hit 3 is 18 Mind, but I can get that down to 4 with good Brandy, and 2 with a Musician Buff. If you spam that move like I do, it will wear down your Mind just slowly enough for you to survive to kill a group of anything with less than 15k HAM and Light/No armor without having to resort to the Brandy.

So I say that in PvE, against anything that isn't a 100k HAM orHeavy Armor 85%+ Kinetic resists, rmor is unnecessary. In PvP, though, it's an absolute must, for obvious reasons.

I'm still fighting over the armor unarmored thing. I'm gonna get a ubese shirt for some AR and i still wear my composite boots and gloves otherwise I wear clothes because i have a better tendancy to stay alive with clothes than with a full suit of composite. You might want to mix and match, wear some armor or little armor instead of full so theres an easy balance.

I keep it in inventory and have it hotkeyed to go on and off (thanks to some slick macros). I check my combat log and see if the damage a type of enemy is doing to me is getting blocked by my armor, and if enough is blocked to warrant the increased HAM cost.

Here's an example. I'm fighting an NPC. What I do is run up to him, KD+dizzy and spam some damage. Throughout this time he's laying on the ground and not fighting back. Most of the damage done in this case is from my own specials because he's not fighting back. In this case I'd not wear armor.

The next fight is against a 4-legged animal. I can knock it down but dizzy won't work on it so it gets up after a couple hits. It gets many opportunities to strike at me. If it hits me often, I had better be wearing armor. If this animal has low accuracy then armor doesn't matter as much because like the above example, most damage being done is from specials.

The other consideration is, how often do you buff? If you're a doctor then it's a no-brainer, just buff and ignore the HAM costs. Or if your best friend is a doc and keeps you buffed, same deal.

PvP is a situation where I always wear armor. You need it then. And you should definitely have buffs anyways if you're in PvP.

I don't wear armor myself, as it's too bulky - and buffs aren't always around.

If I'm going to go up against a group of enemies, I bring friends with guns as backup. Works out really well.

I wear very little armor, if any. I find the encumbrance to be too much to want to deal with. Regeneration is way too slow, and I'm too lazy to keep taking it off and putting it back on. As a TKM who has to get close up and personal with everything we're fighting and sustaining damage, I just find it too much of a pain to wear it due to the regeneration of your stats. When I first started doing TK, I tried armor and it just didn't appear to me like I was taking less damage anyway, so I stripped, and voila! I was a much happier camper. I do, however, use buffs. And, as long as I am not fighting 8 things at one time, I am rarely ever incapped, and I fight mobs that give me anywhere from 3-5K per kill (on dantooine), and then I can have very little downtime meditating in between kills because the stats regenerate so quickly. So, in my personal opinion...go without the armor. Or, occasionally, I will wear some, but it'll be a stylish ubese vest, and maybe some pants...I also like the way the gloves look. And, as I always say, it's better to look good, than feel good.

ah dantooine, I started dantooine to start working on expert power techniques (I am currently 0021) at flat novice savage quenkers weretoo tough(on the same note I was unbuffed, now I go in buffed)money is a nice source of income. It's more or less the same xp of a small rancor group in dath only difference is you get paid more and you can solo it if you prefer to be alone.but that was all off the topic. In my opinion unarmored remains better and when I'm buffed armored and unarmored makes no difference.

I hunt Nightsisters solo alot, I have tried it with and without armor (I am always buffed). If I am one on one with a NS then no armor is ok,if the NS brings friends then I throw my 75% ubese on and we have a good fight.

Armor for me is very situation dependant. PVP I think requires armor unless you are agian one on one.

Being a master doc helps alot as well I buff as soon as I log on. What really hurts is the lack of terrain negotiation. And being limited to one damage type is bad as well. I pounded on a Janta rockshaper for like 5min before i realized he was 100% kinetic resistant. Nothing left to do at the point but run away.
