What strategies do you use when soloing high level NPCs or creatures? I usually try knockdown and stun (which usually get resisted) and then just spam UA3. Is there a better method? Thanks in advance.

*cringes at reading this post* Use ALL your skills! Remember about intimidate (how could you forget?!), blind, stun (you remember this one, but not intimidate?!), dizzy/kd (if it is a humanoid), use UH3 for the bleed, use the combos if you want to target thehealth or mindpools at a low cost. In my experience, warcry has not been effective in PvE, but I have yet to test extensively against humanoid NPCs. Oh, and use the COB, BlueMustang. Use the COB!!!

Remember, you are more than a one-trick pony. The exclusive use of dizzy/kd + UH3 will only serve to limit you.

Peace.

Thanks for the advice. I admit that I initially did TKA for a holo-grind, and as such my abilities aren't much beyond quenker and piket lairs. But I'm trying to change! But one more question, I thought I remember reading that COB was broken for TKA?

Ya you gotta use intimidate or you are limiting yourself. I use this on melee and ranged npcs for the advantage it gives. Warcry works as well as long as you don't hit the affected creature or npcs so it's mainly a handeling tool so you can break up a mob argo attack and concetrate on just one.

1. If you face ranged fighters, use Taunt. It force them to go melee and come to you.
2. intimidate, blind and stunt. His damage output is divided by 3 and part of his defense are down.
3. Damage dealing, either berserk, UA, Combo or whatever work the best.

And don't forget to reapply the states (especially stunt against high defense enemy and intimidate against damage dealers)

Also, if you're against something on wich dizzy work, you can do a dizzy/lunge combo, work better than KD.

And if for no other reason, use all your skills for the simple reason that Unarmed Hit 3 DOES get boring to watch if you spam it for 5 minutes straight.

Also dont forget your Head/Leg/Body hits. if you start takeing them down in one pool, Start attacking that pool with the approite attack, Say your uh3 does 30% damage to the head, start attacking the head, it will drop faster sence it does 80% of the damage to that pool and the other 20 divided to the others.

Yes, I think the Head/Body/Leg Hit attacks are very underrated. They've come in handy for me several times. If I'm correct they cost less HAM than UH3 and you know for sure what pool you'll be damaging.

I concurr with Gavvot's assessment of the Combo's versus the head/leg/mind hits. If your own HAM is low, use combos. As for the COB, from my experience I can say that it is better than not running, it as long as you are buffed. Against creatures with low to mediumaccuracy modifiers, it seemed to give me some level of protection. Against Krayts... well, that's a whole different story.

BTW, you don't *have* to use specials frequently. Your toughness allows you to take hits while your pools try to regenerate. Nothing more embarrassing than killing yourself because you were spamming specials unnecessarily.

Peace.

They're not used that much because, at least for me, they do as much damage on the pool as combo2 and have a high ham cost.

So if the cost is high, better use combo2, overall it's more effective.

I use pool specific moves, but more because of the cool animation than the actual effect of the hit.
