First I have to say that i am new to TKA, and that I don't know anything about the history or role they play in the Expanded Universe. I have been reading a lot of posts here that have to do with the back story and it all seems very interesting. It is basically the reason why I chose to try out TKA. Nowa lot of people have been giving neat ideas on what to include in the combat balance and I am growing a bit concerned..
A lot of posts have to deal with the fact that TK members' abilities verge on force sensitivity, and they would like to see some skills that have to do with that. It is a neat idea, but don't you think that if there are any skills that even relate to the Force, everyone will want to pick TKA as their profession? I don't know about you, but I really enjoy having a profession that is somewhat unique.
I started playing SWG as a Bounty Hunter because I knew that the content they would enjoy would be fairly specific to the profession. I didn't know that everyone and their mom was thinking the same thing. So now I picked up TKA because it is a very unique (or at least I think so) profession. We are focused basically on one thing, unarmed combat. We know it, and we do it well. But there are drawbacks that keep other players away, ie. limited range and damage types. I am fine with being very specific in what I do, and I am fine with other people not wanting to be TKA.
However, I feel that if some of these ideas that we are asking for get into the game, TKA is going to turn into the profession of choice, just as Bounty Hunter was. With the news that TKA are supposedly the 'jedi hunters' (I know, that's not what they said, but a lot of people seem to think that) a lot of people are already flocking to the profession and I can see it starting now.. TKA is going to be the most common profession (I hope not..).
Doesn't everyone like being unique and semi-mysterious? Like I said before, I am new to TKA so this might not be the case. But I feel we might lose that feeling if we become the most popular profession.
I guess what I am trying to say is that it might be dangerous to give us skills that relate to the Force, even though the history and backstory of TKA says that we are proficient with such abilities.
Once again, I am new and don't have any knowledge of the history of the TKA. I'm just going by what I have read here. Thanks.
