Thread: ugh, I dont even participate in PvP and im getting screwed by it
Ive seen many many posts from all sorts of people from every type of class shoutig about how some other class is too powerful. But the thing for me is, I dont give two hoots about PvP. To be honest Iwouldnt care if pistoleers are as powerfuil as jedi, cause hey, maybe ill group with one and his strengths will help me out.
My character is getting weaker and weaker because of something I dont even care about. Please Dev's, when you make these changes that will help PvP, dont carry them over to PvE. You are making Player combat better but greatly reducing the fun of non-player combat.
I think this is the answear to problems like the latest nerf, the 30 second timer. If you just make the timer for PvP I think it will be a good change and will stop ranged classes spamming knockdowns, just dont ruin PvE combat along the way.

In short, we learned to use knockdown because it was our only good defense. It worked so well that we began to abuse it regularly (partially because other professions had other easy to abuse techniques and we felt we had to compete--my take on Novice Brawler vs Novice Marksman is that Novice Brawler is about as hard as it should be, and Novice Marksman is too easy by a couple of orders of magnitude.) Now we'll be unable to abuse it, and our weaknesses are going to really start to show at high levels. Other professions that abuse posture change effects on PvE will also be reduced in power significantly (have you ever seen a ranged weapon user use posture down to kite something? You know how an unarmed can spam unarmed lunge 1 practically all day, holding a mob at 15m away and unable to hit back? Imagine that you could actually do damage while doing that.) Now reds are going to start hitting like they ought to, and it will become obvious that the people on the front lines need a way to deal with that.
I *think* that this couldn't come at a better time: because the devs are very obviously looking seriously at balance issues now, on both the nerf and the improvement side. While it can be painful to be in the middle of a big experiment, I have a lot of faith that they're going to make changes in the right direction: so that reds are impossible for any individual, but groups can take them--including groups with front line melee fighters.
Feel free to be pessimistc. I just like to look on the bright side.
