Thread: Improved CoB at X1XX TK...

Improved CoB is a great improvement over Standard COB, but is it just me, or is it slightly strange how such a powerful ability is so low in a tree ? Most melee-ers can grab Swords/Fencer/Pike, get a suit of Battle, dabble and take TK X1XX and do pretty much what a TKM can do.

It just seems strange to me that TK's signature ability is so low in the tree.

not really as a TK needs something at this point with low lvl inate armor.

Hi goldflame.

I can't believe that! Improved CoB seems to be the class-definer for TKA! It's the only thing I can think of that IS great.

TKA abilities;

Attacks
Very weak. I've not found any profession doing lower damage. We can apply few states, none are unique. We have no range (obviously).

Meditation+
I could get by without this branch and not notice I didn't have it. I suppose wound healing is nice now that doctors are hard to find and dwindling in numbers post-CU nerfs.

Innate Armour
It's free, so I guess cost is an advantage. You can buy armour with better stats though. And that armour can have skill mods on it. And that armour can have Health buffs on it. And...etc.
I haven't yet encountered a situation where being unarmoured was better. I use good armour instead of innate if I am going anywhere dangerous (ie, tougher than level 82 random missions).
(It's sort of amusing that one of the CU goals was to make armed/unarmed armoured/unarmoured all equally viable. It would be a peculiar situation when, even for a TKM, being unarmoured was better. Can anyone think of one?)
(Of course that is "amusing" in the SOE sense of amusing. That sort of way that makes you put your hand over your gaping mouth and think "omfg who designed this" and you have to laugh so you don't cry.)

Great. This is what stops you taking big damage and makes you a tank.


I am a TKA because I like the idea of it.

If anyone asked for my recommendation for the best melee tank however, I would say "Master Doctor, Master Pike and get Balance I from TKA".

I think Improved CoB really is that great.

I guess you could get a Melee/Ranged Defence BE Suit to make up for the Health Bonus...
