Thread: Does CoB reduce damage, along with making you harder to hit?

Ive seen in a few threads that a TKM with CoB turned on has armor equal to 10k crafted. Is this right, and if so, how is this? I know it adds 500 melee/ranged defense and thus makes you harder to hit, but for the attacks that manage to get through, are they lowered in damage? and if so, can anyone explain?

simple question i think. just wondering about picking it up

CoB does reduce damage intake by adding 500 melee/ranged defence. This is noticable. If it is the same as having 10k resist armor. I doubt it because I think defence reduces damage taken difrently then armor resist. Especialy in PVP.

Well, do you mean by reducing the amount of times you are hit or the amount of damage you take from attacks or both?

and, is going unarmored in pvp an option, just using BE clothes and cob?

1. Both. Reduces chances you are hit which is weighted against your opponents accuracy, also reduces damage. (conversly more accracy increases damage in addition to hitting more often)

2. Unarmored in pvp is an option if your a TKM, or a Master Defender. Otherwise I'd say no, armor can make a relatively big difference in pvp. But if your a TKM... although you may be better served by wearing armor.. you can do just fine with TKM innate armor and COB.

Perfect answer!

If the CU had any documentation this wouldn't be such a mystery...

CoB increases your defence stats.
(Attack and Defence stats are visible on the Chatacter Sheet in-game if you want to check them out.)

Your attack and defence stats do TWO things (post CU);
1) attack v defence modifies the chance to hit
2) attack v defence modifies the damage done by a hit

[Sorry for reiterating what has already been accurately posted but there is such a need for documentation I have said it again to try and clarify this one point for new players.]
