Dont know if its already been brought up, but Ive been a tk since the beginning, and I remember unarmed damage seemed to stack with your knuckler.
Now ive found that unarmed damage is only applied when you are not hold anything.
I havent fully tested this...I am currently in the middle of changing my template and Im level 57( TKM/ Mbrawler). I began attacking (lvl40-43 mobs)with a batterfist and was hitting for about 450+ dmg per melee hit. When I un-equipped my knuckler I found I was hitting for 750+.
If what ive found is correct then, as a TKM you dont ever need a doctor to heal your wounds, you dont need to buy a weapon, and you dont need armor...
Im liking TK now more than I did Pre-CU...and thats sayin a lot.

Per the Strategy Guide, KNucklers are under the same category as Pistols.
Therefore, they are not considered unarmed. The only perks to using TK weapons are the elemental damage. Though its arguable currently there is a noticable difference.
