Thread: Are there any reasons to go or stay Meelee class ?
starting my question here cause its the most frequented meelee forum.
Pets are the better tanks. I saw lots ranged / ch soloing high level
npc like dark jedis. Using 2 high pets and a t21 rifle and the npc
go down pretty well. Why should they take a meelee class with them ?
I never saw a TKA ( even full buffed / drugged ) doing something similar.
Pvp'ing meelee are a joke. They are kited by allmost any non-elite prof.
class.
Pls dont tell me anything about the upcomming changes. This wont change
the situation of beeing a second class tank nor the kiting problem.
Force of will buffs action / ham great idea! But you forgot that you
get mind incaped 90% of the time anyway.
So whats your main goal in beeing a meelee class ?
bye error

Come to Radiant if you're not already there or pick another one of the frequently posting TK's on these boards and meet them on your server...they'll show you PvP...
You're mis-informed...read before you speak...you'll appear slighly less ridiculous.
i play TKA 'cause i like TKA. play what ya like, make it work for you.
you want uber.. there's always commando... well, atleast for the rest of this week anyway.
1. I chose tka because I like the profession, plain and simple.
2.Sorry to say this but you need to pvp more and learn. Is true that we get kited alot but I tell you, I can kill half the people that tries to kite me. You can say, its tactics...its whatever but the fact is I do and so should you or any other tk master. Dont expect to be a novice tera kasi and think you should be able to own in pvp. No, but as a TKM you should more than half the time. So yes it pays to become tera kasi master more than you think. We own...
3.Pay attention to the upcoming changes for tk profession...the devs are giving us some love and it should make us fight even better now on pvp.
4. Now if you were writing about all melee classes and not just TK then I cant say much since the only brawler skill tree I have is unarmed.
If you have no desire to learn the ways then don't.
No one (that im aware of) chose to train in the ways of the Teras Kasi becuase they are some ultimate god in this game. Many of us simply love the rush of facing your oponent and taking them down with your bare hands rather then running away shooting like a coward.
You bring up some points about TKA not being tanks and being worthless in pvp. Ask any gunman with a brain, even bounty hunters. They wont go within 8m of a Teras Kasi if they can avoid it, simply becuase they know if they do they are dead.
As stated above, going TKM and nothing else is foolish, simply becuase your in a galaxy fighting against ranged weapon experts. You have got to have skills that counteract people kiting. Personally I love to whip out my gun and give them a nice ranged KD, and thats usually enough time to catch them and end their misery. If / when that doesnt work then my precious pets get to feed. Kiters are their favorite meal. All it takes is one simple command and my oponent becomes pet food.
I mostly became Teras Kasi because I wanted to be different. It takes a different style of playing and thinking to be a true Teras Kasi Master.
Top of the morning to you Master Lo, I hope we can fight together again soon. ![]()
Bottom line is play what you like.Try it, see if you like it. If you dont like the challenge of taking down some coward that wont fight you face to face then TKA is not for you. It is sure satisfying though to win those fights.
high level encounters we are a hinderance and dont help. krayts, dark jedi etc. This i somthing we can't help do unless we have another profession that is ranged or CH.
the bounty hunter and the comando have the upper hand in pvp, and the trend is for bounty hunters and comandos to group together making a good solid 5 man group made up of BHs and comandos. They are so populare that finding many comandos and BHs to field pvp groups is easy, and there is really no need to group anyone else, cept perhaps a combat medic or a doctor, but even thats uneeded.
alot of the same goes for PVE. the only exception is you might add a rifflmen who has master CH, and then you dont really need anything else. ofcourse i get groups cause im in a guild of friends, but if i was just me alone, id probably roam around solo all the time.
I dont declare anymore, for good reasons, and i dont tend to pvp much untell the situation is fixed a little bit more. I like TK and i wont ever surender those points, but you would be a fool if you think we arn't at a disadvantage nearly 95% of the time.
On the bright side the moderate high level encounters we do very well, and are sought after to some exstent. We offer nothing more to a group then raw dmg and tanking ability. compare that to comando CH rifflmen, we are not the best tank or best dmg dealer. What we can do well is peel off others.
we are sorta the "if the **edit** hits the fan" type of pve personal.
in pvp our best strength is TEF flag, were we can get in the first strike, or cose quarters fighting IE buildings etc. still that promotes solo more so then group.
Once mounts go in with the next patch, melee will be in a world of hurt. You can fight from a mount but cannot use specials, so PvP kiting will take on a whole new dimension. Quite honestly, even with bumps, the odds are against melee in a big way, especially in PvP. I dunno what to do - I love my Fencer and my TKA toons. ![]()
Have you ever been shot with normal attacks while buffed? Cuz I never see white when I do.
There are somethings mounts won't change.. can't shoot through buildings on a mount; can't shoot past 64m on a mount; can't stop a 5k mind bleed before your 60 seconds are up.
Let the mounts come. I just hope they have HAM and vitality like pets ![]()

You can't see the damage because HAM bars are broken. Your own caps out at about 1300 or so. You won't see damage until it falls under that.
I highly, highly, HIGHLY doubt mounts will be treated as a separate entity from the rider and will be attackable. The mount won't have HAM nor will it be targetable, that is unless there is no one riding it.

ah, grasshopper... You would appear less of a fool if you would kindly remove your brain from your ass... PVP? I'll come to Radiant. You use only your unarmed attacks, any attack you want. Let's duel 3 times. If I am dumb enough to walk away from my computer long enough to let you get close to me and win, then I'll start grinding TKA again... Oh yeah, don't try that crap of pulling out a ranged weapon either. If TKs are viable in combat, try using their skills.
Oh, oh, let me post about the time I "caught someone by suprise and whupped"... No. I'm talking about straight up combat. If you think we are viable, if you think we are balanced, you don't have a freakin clue about what you're talking about. Flame away if you want and scream that a TKA can do this and a TKA can do that.
Fact 1: The devs have said that they are looking into things and they are going to do something about the fact that ALL melee classes are getting screwed.
Fact 2: They haven't done it yet.
Fact 3: They may not fix things. (I really don't like this fact)
Fact 4: I paid money for the game and chose to pay for a 3 month period in advance because I read Sony's crap about this game.
Fact 5: This game is jacked up right now, it may get fixed later on but right now...?
