Thread: Thinking of switching to TK, Please Help
Do NOT expect to "own" any ranged player as a TKA or TKM. It was probably luck what you saw. Maybe the the MBH's spice wore off, maybe he just afk grinded to MBH and didn't know what he was doing. Maybe the TKM had medic and the MBH didn't. Did they have armor? Pets? weapon specs. There's a lotta condition that could cause one or the other to win. Just warning you that while TKA is a powerful class. They have a EXTREME disadvantage against ranged players. If you want to become TKA thats great! But if you wanna switch just because you think you'll be able to "own BH's". Don't, you'll hate it, and at least half of if not more of the ranged encounters you'll face will put you back at the cloning center.
That out of the way the TKA/CH/Medic combo works GREAT. I have that combo as well and almost did the last act2 mission for the rebels last night solo. I.E. 7 stormtroopers and a colonel at once. Pets are the untimate in soloing warfare. Downside is that when one goes down you lose about a thousand credits in stims healing it, lol.
Note my sig... I also have the knowledge tree in musician, between Meditate and Musician. I can completely heal myself. While it makes me less of a fighter I can kickback and play in the cantina if killing things gets to frustrating.
TKA is a long grind. Although I did mine when you could use VK's, I was new and didn't know what a VK was let alone knew where to get one or could afford one. I was in training about a month, because I had no medic and no CH. I had scouting, marksmen, and entertainer. If you remake the character, be prepared for the most monotous month of your life. But if you enjoy it, thats great. You'll make a great addition to the Order.I started my path to TKM about 2 or 3 months after launch. I'm currently 4/2/3/3 and am having a blast. XD
The main thing to remember is not to get frustrated. While you're tired of the shooting over your shoulder and running like a chicken with your head cut off, they aren't. Every lamer in the quadrant with a scout blaster will kite you till you scream from frustration. But you have to develop a strategy that will not let them kite you. THATS the secret of the Teras Kasi. ![]()
i don't know what rodian stats are like, but i do know that unarmed hit 3 takes alot of action, so your high quickness will be a benefit there.
as for mind, would it kill you to get your mind around 1k? if so, i would recommend that you try a different species. but in the end it comes down to what YOU like. why not start a char on a different server just to fool around with different species and their stat setups.
a majority of tk's seem to be either human or dosh. there are alot of twi'leks and wookiees too, but not nearly as many as human and trandoshan. i've only seen a few bothan tka's and no rodians. that's just my personal experience on starsider.
To be truthful I feel I have many advantages as a Zabrak TKM / CH / Carbineer / Medic
I noticed in beta that even with a gun, many large animals will come face to face with me anyway, so why not have good brawling skills? Since TKA had the coolest storyline background i made it my goal to reach TKM.
Along the way I picked up CH simply becuase as a novice (at the time) i could use a rancor
I continued to grind CH to master as i knew that it must have been a bug and that it would have been fixed.
I am also a zabrak, and even though we are not the strongest, the extra mind does help keep me alive. The other skill that only zabraks have is Equalibrium. I cant even begin to tell you how many times this has saved my booty. When i do hard missions now i get buffed and take some muon gold. This combo makes my very very strong. When my mind ham gets to low, i use equalibrium, and it takes from my action and health pool (which are buffed, and at near 2500 anywase) and gives me full mind.
By switching from BH though you may run into some things you dont like. You will not be very powerful until you get high into the TKA tree. Once you reach master youll be insanely strong.
I also suggest you pick up enough CH to use good pets (i use gurrecks, rancors, etc @ lvl 50) What pets are really nice for in pvp are chasing down the cowards that wont face you face to face
Nothin beats getting kited...and telling mygurreck that its meal time
In a matter of seconds, my kitty has gotten supper.
I also suggest getting at least enough medic skills to use stimCs. Or if you have the sp, go far enough up the doctor tree to buff yourself.
Hope that helps
Most TKM i know absolutely love being TKM and wouldnt give it up for anything.
Absolutely you should change races.. I don't care what other people might post on here about how this would be nice or that would be nice about your current race.. You have 2 things to think about.
1) End game is PVP.. If you're going to PVP for the imperial side don't forget the penalty for being non-human.
2) Every class has a race that so blatantly caters to it. That's the race to pick if you want to do the most damage.. Hands down. In the case of TKA.. You'll watch people selling non-working TKASEA's for close to a million credits.. Why not take a race that offers similliar increases as those SEAs
IMO from highest to lowest concerning tks stat migration points with some medic skills:
1) health/mind...................................my stats: 900
2) action............................................my stats: 800
3) focus.............................................my stats: 650
4) str.................................................my stats: 700
5) willpower......................................my stats: 600
6) quickness......................................my stats: 550
7) con/stamina.................................my stats: 500
Without having medic:
1) health
2) mind
3) action
4) quickness *note* some species are limited to how high this can go EI: wookies cap at 550
5) focus
6) willpower
7) stamina
8) str
9) con
