I read this on the Cor Systems board (Another Nerf TK post) Yellow Text is my response to the missinformed person who wrote this.

Tera Kasi are not over powered.

Lets break it down...

Any other Master combat profession can be just as fast. Riflemen can hit your un-healable mind bar withheavy armor piercing once every second at master! Lets go nerf them too!

They are too powerful

In what way? You mean like how a Tera Kasi only has one damage type while every other profession has at least 2-3+ damage types? Not to mention that it is the easiest damage type to protect against.

They can give themselves a self BUFF!

The self buff is only to primary HAM and it doesn't last very long. Doctors can buff themselves too, perhaps we should nerf them? Big deal that we can self buff, armor is better than HAM anyway. You want to self buff then go learn TK or go learn Doctor.

They can heal their own wounds...including poison and disease!

Yeah we can heal our own wounds and such, but not while in the middle of battle. If I want to cure disease or poison I have to run out of town and into the middle of nowear in order to sit down and heal. (durring a raid)

Their defense makes them Supermen.

No they don't. I die just as often as most other players. If you want to look at TK as super human then just use Kryptonite on us! I am serious, just get a full set of Ubese or Composite with High Kinetic resistance and you will laugh at the TK that tries kill you. A TK would be better off using a feather against a high kinetic enemy.

and by GOD if you are lucky enough to get them down for the count....

FORCE OF WILL.....bam...your dead!

Force of will is a gamble, if your lucky, yeah you can get back up and fight some more, but since it is random you might not get back up. You have a 50/50 chance that it will actually work. If it doesn't work you get major wounds and BF.

Now what can we learn from this? How about use some strategy. And because Im such a nice guy Im gona clue you guys in on how to beat a TK in combat 100% of the time.

Take Notes!

1) Don't fight any Melee profession without highkinetic armor. Common sense. Also make sure to laugh at the TK while he does very little damage to you.

2) Don't fight someone with buffs unless you yourself are buffed. Common sense.

3) Don't let the TK get within Melee range. If you do let the TK get within Melee range then you suck at Marksman, go become a crafter or something.

4) If you manage to Incap a TK don't stand there gloating, finish the job and kill him before he can use force of will. The best way to counter force of will is to be faster than the TK at hitting the deathblow button. Again Common sense.

5) Although covered in point 3 make sure to keep a distance even if the TK manages to catch up to you. Most range profession will frezz like a deer when a TK manages to get a hit on you. Just keep running and shooting and use burst run if you need to. TK always start a fight at a distance so make sure it stays that way. You Range professions have the biggest advantages over a TK, if you use your brains you should never loose to one.

If you really think TK are all that powerful then try it out and see how the profession works.

Know Thy Enemy! Take some time to walk in your enemy's shoes. You don't even have to join the profession, just observe and take note of how the TK uses his skills.

I honestly think the main reason for complaints against tka's being overpowered has almost nothing to do with ranged fighters complaining about melee(although it may certainly sound that way at first ). I think it has everything to do with:

-the other melee professions being used less because they have some issues that need fixing to make them more viable(fixes which are starting to come in, but its slow progress)

- and because much like Bounty Hunters(at least used to be), we have a high number of dabblers in the profession, especially in the meditation line and defenses lines.

Because of all this, when people see someone attack them melee wise, they usually see a tka either because they are dabbling, or combining master tka with another profession to help manually fix issues(like defense, accuracy, etc) that the other melee professions might have.

This is not to say that we don't need balancing too, or at the very least a reorganization of our trees. At master we may not be near as powerful as most people think, but you do have to admit its a bit silly when in 2 days(after hitting novice mind you) someone can master our profession.

It has nothing to do with our overall power being to high, I just think we get too much too soon and that doesn't help the perception about our class. And in the end, I really think its 90% perception that we are in need of being nerfed; because of the dabblers, because the other melee professions need some tweaking, and because its so easy to actually level as a tka, it makes everyone else see a tka everywhere and automatically assume its because the profession itself is overpowered.

When the truth is, yes we can tank, and tank very well, but when it comes to damaging things effectively, once you get outside the low to middle end mobs, damage wise, all the other professions have greater advantages than we do simply because we can only do kinetic damage and high end mobs have big kinetic resists.

And if you don't believe that, try the genosian dungeon, or the Cavemen forts and their Rockshapers, or some nightsisters, or most definitely try the new Corellian Corvette because the only professions that have even the slimest(and I mean slim) shot at possibly even being able to solo half of it, are those with blast and electricity damage, something we have no access to at all.
