Thread: Are TKAs done with or is there hope?

I need to be honest with all of my TKA brothers and sisters. When I first started playing SWG, I never gave a thought tomy character trainingto become a TKA but when I started to train unarmed I never had so much fun in an online game in such a long time and once that fun hit me I knew I was hooked on the TKA profession and when the SWG dev teams patch was released (the one they wrote theywere so excited about) I was shocked and angry at how the SWG dev team made all my hard work and enjoyment in the SWG online game(a game with a monthly fee thats way too high) all flushed down the toilet.

My question is are we TKAs done with or is there hope?

If there is hope, then how much time is it going to take the SWG dev team to fix their mistake?

Or do you think that it looks bad and there is no hope? Because I dont want to stick around paying to play a game that has an unpredictable dev team that can destroya playersfun with the release of a patch. Because with my experiencewith the other online games I have played I can tell you that I have never seen a dev team like SOE's current SWGdev team because it seem like they are a dev team that is in the dark without any direction which might explain their reason for last wensdays patch and whats more scary is that if they have done it once chances are they will do it again.

In thecomputer game magazines SWG has not gotten the best ofreviews and Inormally would not pay SOE's outrageous feejust to playbe a broken online game that gets worse with every patch. However because of the enjoyment I got from training the TKA profession I stayed with SWG.

Is the TKA profession going to be fixed?

Or is the SWG dev team going to let the TKA profession die or atleast become a somewhat of a useless skill?

Does any know?

Only the dev team really knows. And, of course, they aren't really sharing anything useful with us. (Nothing new there.)

Apparently, they expect us to just .... well, I dont know ... what can we do with our characters now? Oh yeah, that's right --- nothing.

i don't really see teras kasi as a tank class.. i believe the other 3 are tank classes. becouse they are atleast where armor without being screwed. they also get things like block and evade. no.. we teras kasi are.. well.. just there... polearm are kinda like us becouse they get counter attack. but with that said. they also get really damaging moves early that attack pools. lol sigh sucks pretty much. but for some reason i am really having fun with my teras kasi heh.. maybe i like being handy cap.

Somthing kinda funny occured to me...

Even when PC's create new characters, your HAM is assigned according to your profession. NPC's? all have nearly equal amounts in each.

What about Creatures?

Syour telling me that a creature like a Narglach has 3k in each stat. That would mean they have more MIND then I have in all my HAM combined?

That is one smart kitty.

Are the called shot skills just for PVP? I mean it is a PAIN to get the TKA mind attack, but has anyone noticed that when you are fighting something, you NEVER hit thier MIND? So what is the use of the attack when your damage is going to Heath mostly, then Action. You attack MIND and you are starting over.

HOWEVER, when a mob beats you down, ALL your bars are nearly gone when you hit the dirt.

Funny how we have to follow the rules with our stats and basic attacks, but they dont.

yeah and while we're on similar subjects FlameWulf, Why is it that Player Characters must use they're HAM pool points to perform attacks, while NPC's and other animals in this game that aren't player oriented don't use any of their HAM pools to attack us????!!! Has anyone else noticed this besides me, or even given it the slightest chance thought?

What's the real point of an NPC or animal having a HAM pool when its just the same as giving them 3X as much health? Lets say a full grown sludge panther has 8000 HAM in each pool, multiply that by 3 and the fact that they use not a single 1 point from any of these pools to attack us and you've got an enemy that essentially has a health pool with 24,000 hit points!!

So, who else thinks that if our attacks cost HAM points, so should NPC and animal attacks to make it more fair to our already small number of DIVIDED HAM points?

Just a thought ........

I thinking they will not change unarmed and TKA but will nerf all other combat classes to clone the kind of game which we no and hate as EQ hours looking for group, hours of downtime to heal etc to pad out game time.

Devs have nointrest to make this game fun but addictive oh yes.

There is no hope. Here are the quotes from the dev that crush any hope:

On the other hand, we're just plain giving up on the issue of melee combat. A good ranged guy is always gonna take a good close quarters guy

But really, we already know the min-maxers won't use that stuff. So it's there for those whose self-image really calls for it."

So basically they have given up on melee combat, and provided only for people whos self image really calls for it. Hope that helps. Anyone who says there is hope for this class is an idiot! The developers said they gave up on this class. Holding out hope is crazy!

Hope that helps!

The answer to your question is in Q's quick and meaningless replies to Thunderwulf's top 5 questions thread.

Mainly the worst one was the reply to our special moves costing so much HAM... "Special moves weren't meant to be strung together because the HAM costs are too high."

That's the answer I was waiting for.. Bye bye SWG!! You all got what little $ you are getting from me for this laughable game!!

Heeeeello EQ2, come on winter!!

I have learned 2 things since last night and early this morning.

1)There is now an SWG dev who is looking into the TKA issues.

2) This problem has said to of been a bug in last wensdays patch however there is no offical conformation if it really was a bug.

If they dont fix TKA and fix it soon I am out of here ASAP! I am not gonna pay for an online service I had gotten so much enjoyment from only to seethat enjoymentripped away with last wensdays new patch.

Holo says he is looking into it right? yet he has contradicted himself in quotes many times! Forgive me if I dont put my rifle down and get back to work. Soemthing has to change, and it is a fundamental change in attitude, not another patch!

If they do indeed fix the TKA profession to pre patch or better than pre patch i'll be happy but I have learned from my four years of playing online games that you can never expect a change in attitude from game company rep's or devs because that just wont happen.

Raph says:

"We're looking pretty closely at the knockdown situation right now, and are exploring a couple of ways to adjust it. Once I have something that seems decent to us, we'll toss it out there for comment."

So we'll probably get a minute adjustment to the HAM cost of KD along with a comment like, "The HAM costs for TKAs KD were slightly too high. We've adjusted them down a small amount to bring them morein line with the ranged proffesions' KD."

Whereupon we'll log in and find that the values are still horribly off, and that TKA is still a laughable pursuit. More people will quit, still more will continue to rant, SOE will retort that they have already adjusted it for us once and perhaps offer to look into it again. We'll wait another month or twofor another similar treatment, if any.

Bottom line: The longer you stay logged in, the more money SOE makes. Your frustration is a mute point.

I hope I'm wrong, really I do.

First he says he has given up on melee classes, then he says he is looking into. Forgive me if I think he is trying to sell me a bridge! Not buying. Burn me once your bad, burn me twice my bad!
