I'm not sue that I lik the fact that it seems lik the Devs are trying to force us to group. I was taken by light blue mobs today...nice work, Devs.

BTW - I'm a 1/4/3 TKA and they were simple bandits on Tatooine...brilliant.

I know a lot of people feel that SWG should not be EQ, and that is their right, but I honestly think the game is better and more enjoyable if there is some significant incentive to group. Personally, and your mileage may vary, the only reason I play mmorpg's if for the social combat experience--grouping. That's just my cup of tea. If I wanted to solo, I'd play Jedi Outcast. If I wanted to solo and socialize at the same time, I'd play Jedi Outcast and talk on the phone or join a network game. The option to solo in SWG is still there, it is just not as effective as grouping. So really, you're not being forced to group, you're just not being rewarded to solo. This is how its been in every mmorpg I've played. I think this is a good thing.

I'm not too keen on how resource intensive heals/buffs/rez's are, and we still can't tank, but insofar as interdependency is encouraged, I consider it progress--not enough to reactivate my account, but progress nonethesless.

Besides it could be worse, I remember back in EQ when greens could wipe the floor with you if they caught you alone in the woods.

Unless you have some good mind buffing foods, there's no change. You'll just incap yourself due to mind poll shortages rather than action or health. Doctor's cannot buff mind stats. Not sure if smuggler spcies can or not. I know some foods do.

Have tried some stat food i forage, no noticeable increases, other than luck.

Though to the master Brawlers out there, roll back to those days, prior to our TKA skills, and use them. They seem to be working enough to get us through this time until we get fixed. This is not something I hope we have to resort to fulltime, but a nice bandaid til they fix us.

Well, I did some looking and chefs can make some really nice stuff:

Breath of Heaven: +520 Str/Qui/Foc 8.33 mins (MC after experimentation)
Flameout: +1350 health, -150 mind/foc/wp, 5 minutes (MC after experimentation)
Ryshcate: +100 strength +100 quickness +100 focus 210s (Desserts III, unexperimented)
Tatooine Sunburn: +1560 strength +1560 stamina -97 focus 375s (Mixology II, unexperimented)

Also, I read that Master Dancers can buff mind/wp/foc +500 for 15 mins.

The major problem, however, is that high quality chef buffs are not easy to acquire, and where available, they are quite costly. As such they are not a viable solution.

So it seems to me that the melee HAM penalties can be minimized to adequate levels in theory, but in practice, it appears entirely to difficult to even bother. And with 0 HAM costs, tanks still can't tank.

What about this --

Would full Doctor/Food buffs allow a well-equiped TKA to execute whatever combat ability they needed whenever they needed it? I have not experimented with this but it seems to me that +1000 or better to the appropriate HAM and stats would allow for a significant reduction in HAM expenditure while providing a significant increase in regeneration.

So would this work?

The corollery to this question is: Are full Doctor/Food buffs reasonably obtainable? Right now, I don't see many master Doctors or Chefs, but if successful group combat depended upon their contributions, then I think we would begin to see a lot more of them.

If both of these questions can be answered affirmatively, then I would be inclined to view the HAM depletion changes not as a nerf, but profession interdependecy. Sure if may make the game harder, but harder does not always mean less fun. If either of the above questions cannot be answer affirmatively, then I would view the latest changes as yet another shining example of SOE mismanagement par excellance.

It should also be noted that there still seems to be no effective method of *tanking* (or circumventing the need to tank) now that CH got nerfed into the dust. Until such a method or strategy is implemented, I consider the game a meaningless exercise in zerg combat and refuse to pay for such an inferior and ill-concieved product.

I'm a Master TKA / Middling Level Doctor. I have my brain maxed out (all stats except mind left at 1000), and with some Teltier noodles (increase willpower by 80-100ish a pop, so you can eat 4 of 'em or so at a time) and all my physical stats buffed, I can solo at a reasonable level as long as I don't get mobbed. That being said, I still can't use vibes without breaking myself in half with 'em...

Ah well, at least the pistoleers I group with'll enjoy my action buffs, maybe since I'm maxed out in combat abilities, I'll just stand around and heal or whatever, rather than wandering forward to get crushed by things.

Oh, also, both entertainer elite profs can buff mind, but it's a very short term buff, I mean... very short. Like, leave the cantina and by the time you get past the med center (doesn't matter which town), you'll see the buff wearing off (-4 -4 -4 -3 -1 -4 -3 -1 -3 over your head in blue).

Ah, well so much for those ideas.

Correction: It seems that it is the Musician profession, not Dancer, that can buff mind. I could find no info about this in Dancer, although I suppose both could possess this ability. Also, what I did find seemed indicate that these buffs are limited to Cantinas and cannot be used from camps.

Can anyone confirm?

I see foods selling for 300-1000 that are player made. No way am I paying that kind of money for every mob I fight.
