Teras Kasi Archive
Thread: Anyone else actually satisfied with the changes?
I figured I'd post that, since I flame enough when they wreck my class.
I despise having to re-learn my class every time someone gets it into his head to 'patch' us, but in general:
I can kill as quickly, or more quickly than I could last week.
I can kill the same or better monsters as last week.
I can't knock them down 5 times anymore in a combat, but I can use my other specials a little more intelligently, without killing myself.
My suggestion: reduce kd's cost, since it has the balancing effect of being useless for 30 seconds. I would have retroactively fixed vk's, but I suppose I can afford to go buy a new pair.
I also didn't lose my house, my gear, and almost my account in this patch, so I guess it's a success.
Well done, keep up the good work.

the knockdown thing hurts, but it does more damage again... so to me its a trade off. I didnt use it as much anyway because of the high HAM costs. When i go to hunt larger things i have 2 cowardly Gurreks and 5 probots with me. I pitch a camp, get out oe cat and one droid and go to work. Instead of relying on KD, i have always relied on pets to help out incase i get into trouble.
I fought a greater womp rat and for the first time, he did more dmg to me than i did to myself. This is a good thing.
Things I like
1. I like the increase in our toughness while in melee fights.
Things I hate
1. I feel the 5 second down time for KD or lunge is unbelievably short.
2. I dont see our damage increase.
3. Dizzy does not work. The dizzy icon disappears after I use KD or lunge however the dizzy icon will remain if I dont use KD or lunge.
Things I would like to see done
1. Increase the down time of KD and lunge to 15 seconds.
2. Fix dizzy so it works.
I am just about to make Master Teras Kasi and I will not surrender my Teras Kasi skills but with these new changes Teras Kasi is no longer an elite fighting profession and while it can be used soloing in PvE it is mostly useless in PvP because we will never win against a gun. Even in PvE missions where NCPs have guns are now super tuff and given the fact that NCPs can not only kite but also can shoot through most walls, big rocks, trees, small mountains and through the corners of players houses only makes NCPs harder to kill with Teras Kasi.
While not a useless fighting skill Teras Kasi has been now made into a skill to compliment a fire arm skill and thus should not be thought as an elite fighting skill.

"There's not a thing wrong in my eyes that making running players unable to fire accurately wouldn't fix"
Throw in the ability to hit a moving target... and possibly slow down the guy that is fully armed and armored just a tad?
I see nothing wrong with adding speed encumbrances to armor and weapons, and why not backpacks and the items in them to be fair.
As far as damage output goes... mine now rocks and I can handle most melee mobs out there, but against a kiting PC or NPC it is the same story:
This target is out of range
I'm perfectly satisfied with the changes, for the reasons that have already been stated in this post as well as one more major point:
RANGED CLASSES MAY NO LONGER SPAM THE KD AND POSTURE DOWN ATTACKS.
This was my major problem in PvP, pistoleers, BHs, and smugglers using KD over and over. This has been fixed.
Agreed that it is harder for us to keep them in range, but I find it just as easy to run and take cover in buildings when they try to kite. True balance is at last coming over the horizon. We're not there yet, but at least we havethe goal in sightnow.
I won't be 'satisfied' with anything until SOEactuallydoes something to impair 'kiting' in PvP. Instead, they do the reverse and apply a timer to the only ability we could use to effectively stop a 'kiting' ranged player.
Someone, please explain this logic to me.
I did alot of playing today. And alot of PvP. The KD times has not hurt me at all. In fact now with the more damage I do one KD and they are dead in 4 sec tops. I am still having a problem with lunge on a timer. We dont have any way to stop kiting. I do not chase them. if they start I run the other way and in to a building and let them come in. I killed many many ranged people today.
I did some more PvE testing today. I am a master doc so this is not to say how the base TKA is doing. But I did very well. I had a run of 11 times in a row that the mob missed me. And the mob was yellow. I was hunting out of the research outpost on endor. So yes I am sure that it was a hard target.
The best thing I am enjoying is the ham cost on our speicals now. I can start with the stun/intemidate/blind string. Then I can do a few unarmedhit3s and not kill my self. It is nice.
Over all I am pleased with the changes. We still have some changes that need to be made. I do alot of PvP and the kiting is pretty bad. We need to be able to catch them. I have a bounty hunter that I PvP with alot. She can KD down as I charge them and finish them off. I really do think that we do the most damage point blank. She is not a master bounty hunter but in dps I do alot more then her. We do not need any more damage. We just need more deffense and a way to not be kited.
On a side note the need to put in a timer on zoning so poeple stop camping zone ins with there ATST and killing you before you even have a chance. That is just cheap and no fun for most of the people playing.
"She can KD down as I charge them and finish them off. I really do think that we do the most damage point blank."
She can also Eyeshot a player in 4-5 seconds to their death and from 65m no less. No need for you in this scenario, really.
That is true. But this is against more then one person. She can KD then eye shoot that one while the other 2 or 3 we have been fighting kill us or she can move on to the next one and start fighting. She would only do that if they start kiting me too much most of the time or at the start of a bigger fight. I think that we shine more in small groups then solo or large ones. In large fights it is more of a stand off while the range shoot each other for one side or the other. In solo it can go either way really comes down to who got the jump on who. But in small groups of 2 to 4 I think is where we do the best. It is enough ppl to work together and win. I do not like to stay up front when we are moving I come from the back so I am not targeted first most of the time. That give me the second or 2 I need to close the distance up to my target.
I am not saying I am a PvP god or any thing. But I do very well. I kill alot more people then people kill me.
