Thread: Commandos do FOUR TIMES more damage to TKA AFTER PATCH!

Since Sony decided to change the commando's flame thrower into a ranged weapon with the latest patch, they inadvertantly laid a deadly blow to the melee community while also fortifying a commandos dominance in both PvE and most parts of PvP. Yesterday, while hunting in Bestine, a Master Commando hit me for 2800 damage. My 54% composite armor blocked 1400 damage but I was still instant killed. He then immediately killed my pet in one shot and three ticks of flame for 3000 a hit.

I understand commandos are supposed to be powerful, but shouldn't a MASTER melee fighter win 100% of the time at close range? Isn't that the whole purpose of melee characters? Anyone see anything wrong with this? A simple solution to this problem is make Combat Toughness count against any form of attack... Flame/Poison/Desease/Melee/Ranged/Act of God/etc.

Get ... buffed.

I was riding on a Muon Gold high with Powerboost (1800/1800/2400 HAM) fighting a commando and his 2 friends in the med center (yea yea -- save the lecture). I stormed in. Commando lights me up. I pop a StimB and proceeded to beat his butt into the ground.

Despite what commandos can do in the initial blast, if you can survive it (and trust me, a TK can) you start dishing out 500 damage per second on the poor SOBs. I almost feel sorry for the commando that finds me. They're always so happy to find me in melee range until they find out I'm a Teras Kasi (I travel with Rogue or Master Pistoleer over my head).

I'm not even TKM. I'm 4-0-2-4.

yes commandos aren't that powerful if you consider the 2.5x damage we do to them now. i would know i am tka master and commando. ya the flamethrower is very powerful and fire is very strong but realize that if a tka can land a KD and get in some headhit's its all over with the 2.5 dam. and trust me you want to do headhits, because they cant be healed once incap'd for longer /laugh time.

I will agree with how fast we hit but I am 3-4-4-3 Human and I PvPs my TKM buddy the other day and even after KD abd VKs I onl did 120-200 damage....how are you guys dishing out 500+...I must be bugged somehow....COmmandos are too powerful in PvP and thats the way it has been and always be so I guess the best thing to do is just deal with it.

That is great and all deadnewbie, but right after you kill him, the 1000 fire damage and 300 wounds kills you. Fire runs on the same six second timer as poison. You wouldn't be able to get the deathblow off in time and he would get up first and kill you. Either way, you lose unless they don't get the first shot off.

Not many people know this, but i've been doing some testing on the flamethrower with my commando friends. The flame seems to be a whip like attack. Stay in front of the whip and you can't be hit. If you make a B-line for him you'll get wasted. If you circle around him you won't.

So i hit autorun. Go at him, till he's gonna fire, then turn and move another direction round the "front" of the flame. I say "front" but there's really no front, have to use your imagination. At 15m, lunge... then kd2 when you are close.. You'll never get hit again.

Another trick, get a stupid little pet, like a rock beetle. Send him in first, he has a range attack. If you are lucky the range attack will posture change the commando. If not atleasthe has auto fired at the pet, giving you a nice 8-15 second window to run in and rip another orifice.

All i'm saying is use your head. Would you run straight at a guy holding a flame thrower?

All right, but apart from the sanitation droids, bionic limbs, hyper-drive, moisture vaporators, galactic order, abolisment of slavery, star charts, the compact and efficient central government and interplanetary free trade, what has the Empire ever done?"

Sorry man, but I think a flamethrower and weapons of the like will ALWAYS do more than fists, vks, swords, etc.

I'm TKA, but I wouldn't expect to take down a flamethrower (except the flamethrowers on the boards haha).

Did you know that missions from the artisan terminals scale their difficulty based on your combat level?

How does this make any sense?

OK then I wouldnt expect a Gurreck to be as powerful as 15 ton Armor plated shellback Tortur Either but they are. I wouldnt expect Something as small as Skreeg to Do more Damage than a Wrix but they do and they look like Spider Monkeys. Point is dont make realistic comparisons to make your point because nothing in this game makes a lot of sense as far as reality goes. The fact is the Devs are always screaming "balance" when there is nothing balanced about Commandos.

Ok, the reason he hit you so hard is likely due to specials. Now that FT are ranged, commando's can use overchargedshot1-2 and the other Marksmen generic specials. So in your case, it looks like he OS2'd you and then flamesingle'd your pet.

All you needed was to KD him and smack him with a unarmedhit2 or 3, he's then toast. I know this from experience. I am a Commando/TKA, not master of either yet, but working on both. I get one shot killed in PVE all the time if I'm dumb enough to leave the flamethrower equiped. That 2.5x dmg multiplier is killer.

So, I repeat, the ranged dmg of a FT has not increased. Players have just realized they can use other older specials with them without the insane downtime or low-range of the flamethrower specials.

This is false. The wounds and the damage doesn't kill you. If you are buffed like I am you have plenty of health pool to work with. The burn damage is on the same timer as a stim heal for a novice medic. The wounds don't kill you either. You have meditate for a reason.

I'm not writing this like I'm proposing that is how it works. I'm writing this because I do and deliver the results of dead commandos piling up. While I can use my pistols for the kill, I much rather prefer dizzy/lunge and a spam of unarmed hit2. It's much much faster and more effective on an armored target than my guns are able to deliver.

TKA are commando killers. We have all the tools.

Our DPS isn't much lower then yours is...quit crying, we can't spam specials every 1 second like you can, TK has the best accuracy in the game, TK can tank pretty much anything, TKM has the ability to get master doctor if they wanted to, TK has KD's and the ability to hit EVERY health poolon command....a commando can do NONE of this, quit crying that we're overpowered when we can hardly kill things that con blue anymore.
