Learn how to play your class well and you wont need to depend on a pet. Or you can always become a CH.
This was posted previously by someone else about fighting with pets. If you dont want to draw the agg of the pet you have to stand at like 4.5m away from your target, its hard at first but once you get the hang of it its not that bad really.
our "class" should have to rely on hunting missions or harvest resources to make money. but we do. in order to make the money come in faster you use a pet.
i laugh at all the people saying how we should play our class while at the same time they're out killing bantha for hide and mission payouts.
shouldn't you be checking up on some jedi?
non ch tka with a pet disgusts me
you have warcry, kds,dizzy, stun ,intimidate, posture down, unarmed toughness...
a tka is his own tank. just play him smart,
i could tank a dark jedi master for2 mins maybe together with warcry2 kd2 intimidate and stun (and maybe some armor-buff)
most tkas dont know what thyre capable of.

how would you like being master tk and being out tanked by a FUKING ROCK bettle!
on a side note, if your constantly gettting owned by what everyour leveled off of, then change to something else. Although on yet another side note, get a CG, they tank better then the rock bettle
rock beetles, while neat little non-ch pets... suck a donkey sized one for use as a tank for a TKA
Worthless little punks wont take aggro and hold it or stay close enough so I can melee for crap!

rock beetle 2200 HAM, light armor 25% resists to kin. =59 100pt hits before incap
cg 3200HAM, 10% resist to kin=36 100pt hits before incap
BE kahmurra, 2895HAM, 20% resists= 37 100pt hits till incap, but highest damaging non-ch pet. up to 200pt/hit.
mt krevol, light armor, 30% kin eff, 2200HAM= 63 100pt hits till incap
cg is the worst of the 4. just a little fyi.
why is it ok to group with ranged fighters but not with a pet. isn't a pet a better partner than a group of ignorant fighters?
ive always had bad luck with rock bettles, they constantly got owned, then again i wasn't trying to have them tank, i was using a mountian squil, and the rock bettle always got way to close every time. the gurreck has a combination of speed, he always keeps up, and he puts himself at enough range to not always get hit all the time, as well as that if you want to use him as a tank, you can still get within range and not get hit.
on papper maybe they are better tanks, but ive never really liked them. perhaps i should have said IMO, and in that case i'll say it now. IMO CQ are better tanks.
i was really trying to stress the point that no none ch pet should out tank a TKM, only maybe at lower levels, but its rather insulting make referance to a none ch pet tanking for a TK.
now if a grual mauler wants to tank for me....by all means i'll let him. sometimes its nice to simply have a set up tank. a pet that tanks 2 or 3 hits, while you land intimdate, then you KD and regain the tanking process, in those cases id rather go with the CG for more then simply kinetic resistants for the reasons.
Wow so many angry responses. And assumptions that I'm a moron. I get xp just fine, i was venting on the beetle. But let's examine some of the rash responses =)

I know how to melee with what is given me. Since you have no clue how I'm fighting, what I'm fighting, or what skills I have besides novice tka then you make yourself sound completely ignorant when you assume I don't know what I'm doing.

Good advice, just doesnt work with rock beetles. They use their ranged attack. Some day I'll get a mountain krevol.
I doubt in pure melee that a rock beetle or mt krevol could possibly outtank a teras kasi master. Now a novice... That's another story.
