I noticedan increase in ranged attacks from creatures as well, but not to a degree that I considered it significant.

What I noticed was that all AI seem to use the opposite of what the player is using. If I use my flamethrower, they switch quickly to melee attacks, if I use my fists, they start to kite me. I guess the creatures (and NPCs) just got a little "smarter."

i was running along, not paying attention, on tatooine, and i stumbled across a dragonet lair. when i say 'stumbled across' i mean the battle music clued me in

anyway, there are 3 dragonets i'm fighting. 2 adults and a baby. One of the adults is on me melee, and the other two are spread out, and like 25m away, spitting at me. I was being tanked by one lol, while the other two took me down. If ran to one of the spitters, it changed to melee and the one that was tanking me started spitting. If I knew then what i know now, i would have killed the baby first, but i didn't realize then that they did full ranged damage instead of 1/10th damage

See stuff like this makes the game more realistic, while making it harder. They don't have to nerf stuff to prevent players from dominating the mobs, they can simply make the mobs fight more effectively. I used to do MUD programming, and this is exactly the kind of thing that we used to do.

If you find out that players are taking advantage of your AI, you don't nerf the players, you fix your AI. Kudos to the DEVs for this new change, if it is new.

Man I have been Kited by Dralls since day one!

I am not talking exclusively about kiting, I am talking about mobs that adapt to changing circumstances, mobs that use tactics like tank and ranged. Mobs that run when you equip melee weapons, and that stop and run back to hit you when you equip a rifle. Kiting is just one aspect of what I am seeing.

the worst experience i have ever had with this, is when i was doing a rebel generals camp.

i ran out using intimidate 2, because at the time i was master brawler, then i got at 70m range and attacked one, brining about 4 on me, but leaving the general for last.

1 came running at me to melee me while the rest started shooting me. Luckly intimidate was still going strong, and i quickly downed the melee guy, although he did waste about 7 additional seconds of my time by running away when he was almost dead. had to chase him kill him off, then move on to the comando next.

the comando quickly started to kite me, so i decided to leave him alone and bolted twords the master seargent, the seargent started to kite me, so i decided to switch targets to the normal seargent, then the normal seargent started to kite me, i was near dead tossed myself a heal and switched to pistol to draw one of them into melee range, it worked, and i got master seargent to melee me. i switched back to TK, and low and behold the guy switched to guns and took off running in the oposite direction...while having 3 still shooting me and one kiting me, i switched back to pistol and tossed myself a heal. The master seargent came back and i quickly KD'd him and finished him off before he could run away.

i then decided i was going to run away, and have them chase me, because usualy when you run for what ever reason, NPCs get into prone position, and low and behold the normal seargent did, andi burst run back to him, and hit UH3+UH3+KD2+chain of UH2. he died.

that just left the comando, so i bolted after him, and i was about dead, so i healed myself, he turned and started kiting me, i had gotten him with lunge because i still had burst run on, then he slide across the game, and he was out of range, he got back up and kited me some more, he ran me up a hill, and i had no exploration and said " F this" and turned and ran the other way. he followed me, and eventauly got into prone position. At this point I had used around 10 stims on myself, and was getting pretty low on mind, and for what ever reason he seemed to be targeting my mind pool alot....i realized he wasn't intimdated, and quickly ran back to him as he turned to kite me to intimdate him, finaly got it to stick. I then turned ran back away from him tell he got into prone position, came back when he did, and tried to KD2 him but i failed landing it 4 straight times, and he started to kite me again. i was really getting low on mind. he finaly killed me, and when he came back to dB me, i used Force of will, and taped him twice to the back of his skull, and he died.

I meditated a little bit, and went back to the generals camp to kill the remaining general, and low and behold the entire camp had respawned all 5 of them. i deleted the mission and did somthing else.

On the way back to the city, i saw a guy with the title novis pistoleer over his head, with a graul as a pet, watched him for 2 minutes clear out a simulare camp of rebels.....then decided perhaps id give up master brawler for some ch...and the rest as they say is history.

So, i've noticed, since the latest patch, that creatures are using their ranged attacks (if they have one) more. That means today i got kited by a merek! And then i got kited bya bageraset. And then i got kited by ... some other spitting creature. lol. I'm not really mad about it, because they seem to stop sooner or later, and i also have spitting pets. I just thought it was funny, and should be shared.
