Thread: Ideas for TKA: Stances, Animations

Ok, Ive been a TKM for a while and have come up with a few ideas I'd like people to comment on.

First of all stances. I believe that as unarmed specialists our stance looks pathetic and its the same as a novice brawler. Furthermore i think that us TKM should be able to choose different stances, much like the different dances for dancer before engaging combat, with each stance having a different benifit and a drawback. MAybe having +dmg/-spd or vica versa.

Now to animations. OUr moves look damn stupid. We solely spin at unaremd 3. wow. And those ribbons, PLEASE REMOVE THEM. If anyone likes the above idea then why not have different animations for each stance? Or at least introduce animations for blocks and when fighting someone make our moves synch with theirs, eg jump over a low sweep if the evade works, grab tha blade with two hands and swing it to the side, something like that. Id like to see us as unarmed specialists actually do moves that correspond to it and look nice. Same goes for the rest of the brawler profs as well. Unfortuantely untill they fix our defences this won't work, but its a nice idea.

What do you people think? Anyone think that these ideas are any good?

I agree completly, I would love to this done.

But lets face it, as cool sa this would be, it would require alot of work by the devs, and there are other larger problems in the game that need fixed. Myabe once the Space Expansion comes out and all the devs workong on that can focus their time onto other things like what you are talking about. It just seems like a want rather then a need at this point.

But i do say, it would rock to see a TKA jump from a sweep or grab a blade or even do some Matrix-esqu dodging from punches and blaster fire. I may be asking for too much and maybe i'm the only one, but i would just love to see a TKA use some sort of bullet time lol....but that is asking too much i think. MxO is supposed to be coming out , i know it will have bullet time, but i don't have high hopes for that game.

I think you have a very good idea for us TKA's, but what you are talking could be possible I think, but it would probably lag sections of the server badly...If you remember the jedi fight movie that was released a while back, the lightsabers actually hit each other ...realistically (SW universe realistically) without making contact with the other Jedi's body. I thought that movie was very cool for that one reason.

Change our moves?

TKA has the coolest lookin specials and combos in the game man. Takin them away and replacin them would just suck


maybe we need to get rid of the red ribbons yes but our awesome specials? OH HELL NO

Welli wouldn't really say spinning around in one spot is really "cool looking" but as you wish . Besides they are just ideas i thought up and thought would actually reflect our abilities a bit better. AS said before, i hate looking like a novice brawler just with a different tag, since i can put novice brawler and challange someone to a duel and they won't know what unarmed skil I have. I'd like to be actually able to show it in a stance or some other way. Apart from that i know that there are mroe imoprant stuff to fix, and as i subtly hinted none of this will work till our defences work properly. And why would this lag? I dont believe it will take that much resource power but if we truly want to know we migth try getting something out of a dev about the topic.

I like the concept of different stances, so you could do a more defensive/lower damage stance, or a "feet planted" high damage/low defence stance and so on, but having seen the Disciplines in EverQuest (which were supposed to be the same kind of thing) I have my doubts as to whether they'd work without borking the rest of TKA.


It would be good to see it done properly, though.
