Thread: 2 lines from tka, which would you choose?

Hi i'm currently a Master smuggler, TKM and budding swordsman. Now i want something to help kill the big stuff (krayt and NS, you know the stuff) and i'm not getting rid of master smuggler, so i have enough SP to get 2 lines of tka +novice medic.

The question is, which 2 would make me a better tank?

I was going to have 4-0-0-4 but then someone told me the def vs from x-4-x-x was better for tanking. Also i just love meditate but i would be willing to drop it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Personally i would take the meditate tree (free wound healing and temporary HAM buffs with power boost) and Power Tech (Makes you attack faster and hit harder)


EDIT:


However you could do the Combat exp line. it does give you better defence bonuses but it isnt anything spectacuar.

Meditate is muy importante. If you dabble in TKA, you MUST take meditate. You can shake off poison, disease, wounds, buff yourself 50% of the max value of your mind, etc.


If you wanted to actually DO tka damage, you have to take power tech. That gives you speed and damage.If you want defense, determine what defenses your template requires and pick from the balance line or precision striking. Striking requires combat XP, so it will be much harder to sample from that line, as combat XP is so precious.

If you want to dabble in defenses, allow me to point you to the fencer defense lines or the Pistoleer Tech tree. If you want to dabble in TKA, do meditation and nothing else.

IMO, I'd dabble 4/0/0/4. That gives you the ranged/melee defense for the class, as well as power boost.

do 4004, these guys are forgeting that you already have unarmed 1-4 from smuggler so fencer isnt possible. If you were looking for some melee defense (which basically means nothing in pvp but good for pve) and some pistol speed to help smuggler you could pick up thestances line in pistoleer and meditate possibly.

i would not recomend dropping medic if your are gonna pvp.

Thanks for the feed back guys, and i've decided to keep 4-0-0-4, the def vs X would be nice but swordsman is really lacking in melee def so i think i'll stick with that.

4-0-0-4 Would be the best combo you could pick imho.

I'd also add that it may not be necessary to keep novice medic. Once you get up to Meditation 4, you'll never need medic wound healing... and the stimpack heals just aren't going to do much when you're fighting big things.

I've been a Master Smuggler/Master Chef with TKA & Pistoleer for a while now, and I don't miss the medic. If I'm in danger of getting incaped I'll take a shot of Neutron Pixie or Muon Gold to "heal" myself. That's usually enough HAM to get me through the battle. If not, I'll Feign Death until I regen enough to finish it off.

That said, I'd recommend droping Medic (frees up 15 skill points) that you can use to go all the way up another tree (either fencer or TKA) or dabble in a bit of Pistoleer (maybe take novice Pistoleer and Marksmanship 1 & 2). For TKA take Med & Power.

I was previously dabbling 4-0-0-4 and I loved it so much that I'm going for TKM now.

4004 would be best since you will have novice medic. The meditative tree is priceless to have plus the melee and ranged defenses are good.
