I am trying to get some ideas for more profession specific armour. What stats would the typicalTKA prefer to have? i.e. what would u like in special? what sort of base do u care about? what sort of ham? would your pve be different from your pvp? stuff like that

Thanks

I don't wish to hijack your post, and it a very interesting question that deserves some responses, and I think that my comment does belong here.

To me, armour is an anathema for a TKA. In unarmed (and I'd include VK's under this umbrella as they do not affect agility) combat, speed is paramount. I fail to see how a heavily armoured person can do anything like the kind of martial acrobatic evident from the TK animations. Perhaps I am not being imaginative enough to see how this advanced armour (thinking of composite and chitin here) could work in "a fantastic reality", but I just cannot see how it would not slow you down, limit your elasticityand your vision.

As I said, no intent on derailing your thread, but a point I wanted to make.

I also like my composite with high kinetic resists (which how my armor currently is)but it would be nice to see something with high kinetic resists and not vuln. to stun (if it all possible) just to show those fencers and the stun batons who's boss lol

I was actually wondering this myself. As a TKA who never has much credits, I'd like to know peoples opinions on Ubese armour. Im particular how it rates on a per credit type basis, as all the compisite I've seen seems to be really expensive.

In pvp I'd go with the composite, but when your out huntting it's probably better to go with the Ubese since that can be anywhere from 71%-80%, with less endumberance ... but if you buffed, a couple hundered on each stat might not matter (except mind, which you have to use money on for drink/food). Plus the fact that a good 75%-80% Ubese suit will cost anywhere from 175k-225k, while a 80% kinetic Comp will cost 400k+.

To the original poster... I use 80% kinetic resist Comp, but I make sure that I am juiced up on "highly unrealistic" buffing drugs and get stone faced drunk on brandy that defies all logic by making your mind sharper.

To the person kind enough to tell usthat this game is breaking the laws of physics..

None of the rules apply here.. You shouldn't be able to run forever and a day with armor on, it takes longer than 1.4 seconds to don and you wouldn't be able to to do it while fighting, you can't swim in armor, a rifleman would need help getting up from the ground, a fencer couldn't dodge effectively, a pike man would be slower than he is now, a laser wouldn't cause you to bleed, you couldn't put your motorcycle or car in your car and walk around town, you couldn't carry 500k of metal in a backpack along with harvestors (regular or heavy) your house (large or small)and still be a very effective fighter I could go on aaaaalll day.

So saying that it doesn't make sense is pointless..

It doesn't make sense that you come in here to point out the obvious... This is a game and subject to a game world environment.. If realism and real world physics is what you are looking for then go play America's Army.

Pure TKA here with no other combat abilities to enhance it. I go unarmored for general fighting. However, I do use armor(Ubese) and have a wish list as well. I'd say the following 3 armors are of the most use to a TKA:

Ubese: Perfect for all but the tip top highest PvE content because of its great Kinetic resists at a low encumbrance.

Bone Armor: As an imperial and pure tka, PvE faction missions, or any combat with ranged NPCs can be painful unless I'm buffed. Without us having a working CoB, ranged attacks just hurt a TKA badly. With its extreme low encumbrance and pure Energy defense, Bone armor would be perfect for these sorts of fights to compensate for our weakness to ranged attacks.

Composite: This is what you use if you PvP or go into combat with the highest end PvE content, you just have no choice if you want to survive.

In my opinion those 3 armors would be of the best use to a TKA.

Hello Wamphyrri ,

Thank you for your considered comment. Obviously that did not come off as intended it too, so...

The qualification used in the oxymoron"fantastic reality" was intended as a mitigation against "real world physics" critisism upon which you leaped with such alarming gusto, as well as a play on words. As forcoming "...in here to point out the obvious...", my point was that I don't believe TKA should be able to wear "heavy" armour - that's just IMHO. I thought that was obvious too, so I'm sorry that I have to come in here to "...point it out..." (again) .

I'm not looking for reality, just a fun game. Surely even that must adhere to some rules? At least, for me it must...

D'oh!

There I go hijacking the thread. Apologies to the original poster.

For the thread poster, to make ammends for the (apparently)pointless post, and at the risk of a wrathful finger--wagging from Wamphyrri for my blatant hypocrisy,I'll tell you what I use: yep(!), its 80% kinetic resist composite. Sorry, but I don't recall the base figures. Like Wamphyrri, I also use buffs and alcohol and spice as needed.

I can respect that.. I didn't use armor for a LOOONG time as I didn't see how it fit in with the whole martial arts scene as well.. But since the buffs overcome the encumberance I figured I would give it a shot.. I don't use armor with PVE tho... sometimes I throw the helmet on but for the most part I hunt without Armor or VK's....

I would still love to find BE Hotpants..

Sorry for going overboard with my examples And you are right, there should be an element of realism... BUT I still want to carry my house in my backpack.

To keep thread in thread in the right direction.

When I did start using Armor I started with Ubese since it was cheaper and the HAM costs were less.

Later I moved up to comp armor.. First set was 67% Kinetic resist.

But as I said, I have found that going armorless in PVE seems to work better for me.
