Thread: Specials don't seem to stick anymore. Is it me?

I've faded in and out of the game but have lately joined my guild in several big game type hunts, and I find alot of my specials don't stick to anything that it's worth using them on. I used to hit things with a stun and a blind and maybe a state change and dizzy, but now it's just a waste of HAM. I CAN get intimidate on anything, but that's it. I sort of expected my role vs. nightsister elders or on the Corellian corvette would be to debuff things, but apparently I'm only good for intimidating.

Is it just me or do other TKMs find that these specials have really limited utility in the more advanced PvE groups?

Is there anything I can do to improve my chances of landing them? I've never heard of BE clothes for stun, blind, etc., though I do have some intimidate items.

I don't think I've ever managed to stick a stun on some of the higher-end NSs, though you can blind them simply by spamming UaHit3. It's possible that they have the capped limit of defenses vs certain status effects (95%) which explains why you can do some things to them and not others. Most other mobs though I don't have a problem sticking status effects onto.

I too have noticed this. I noticed it when I started testing around publish 7 on TC. I think that, yes, across the board, they subtly increased all npc's and creatures resistances to state effects. It wasn't a huge change, but it was enough so that what was easy is now a little more difficult and what was already hard(Nightsister's and up) is even harder.

Thanks for the input. I was out of the game for several patches and when I returned recently, I found my debuffs less useful, but I wasn't sure if it was because my prey was more advanced or what...

I noticed this tonight in a group on endor hunting the new Blacksun gang at the Ewok village. If I spammed KD and had /peace ready I might get one to land but the dizzy effect would not stick. Out of the 15 or so that I fought, I might have landed KD twice and using posture changedizzy may have stuckonce. Intimidate would stick more than a stun or blind which failed each time even when spammed. One of the things our profession is good at and I couldn't do it. With all the new NPC with high resist to our damage type really makes me want to pick up a second profession *cough...riflemen/fencer...cough* if we can no longer debuff.

On a related note; maybe, I am misunderstanding how things work, but when I get dizzied and knocked down, I stay down for a pretty long time. This doesn't seem to apply to critters at all. Knockdown is still worth using, but I want the sucker to stay down. Am I simply misunderstanding how things work?

Yes, most of the states are useless against high end NPC's and MOB's. Intimidate is the big exception, although it is useless against droids. This hurts everyone, but it realy hurts pike and carbine players the worst because application of states is their main gig. Neither gets a lot of defense, and the application of states is supposed to kind of compensate for that.

On the other hand, application of states onto players is ridiculously easy in most cases for players, NPC's and MOB's alike.

You will often get dizzy/KD'd instantly in PvP if you don't gorge yourself on the appropriate foods.

It should probably be a little harder to stick things onto players, and at least possible to stick things onto high end content that seems more and more to be geared for jedi these days (notice the restraint resists).
