"YES, the wording of your post suggested that the majority of everyone that posts on this forum is a "d00d". "

NO, the wording of my post(S) there was more than one on this, suggests nothing of the sort. In fact, I specifically went so far as to say explicitly that I was NOT saying what you are implying, so you've got a whole lot of wishful thinking going on in your head right now and not much else.

By the way Selwyn, how dare you turn such an eloquent post into petty mindless drivel. Please take your haughty attitude elsewhere.

"The bottom line is, agree with me, or don't. Like the way I say things, or don't. Apprecaite my opinion, or don't.

I.
Don't.
Care.
"

Once again, you think it's all about you, Selwynn.

Trust me: we already know that you don't care about anyone else's opinions. Of course, that's the whole problem, isn't it.

Every debate you enter into becomes a simplified, unilateral argument (in your own mind) where you are never in the wrong. Even when forced to confront facts, you dissemble and equivocate, for the simple purpose of saving face.Seemingly, this is all donewith thepersonal intentof protecting yourfragile self-image. It's quite a show, I'll give you that.

The 'real' bottom line: people come to these boards to exchange ideas, post opinions, even vent their anger and frustration. We can tolerate quite a bit. The one thing that people will not tolerate, however, is a self-loving, wananbee pseudo-intellectual who's sole purpose for posting is based on self-interest and nothing more. Most of the time, your posts sound as though they were written for an audience of one: yourself.

You say that you don't care what people think: Hey, that's great. Welcome to the adult world. It would be nice, however, if you could (in the future) just 'chill', exchange ideas, and speak your mind without having to gloss over everything with that cheesey MENSA-prattle that is both the sound and fury of everything you've contributed thus far.

People respect you, Selwynn. There's no doubt about that. I even respect your dogged determination to stay around, even when the waters aren't the most welcoming. All that people want is for you to respect them in turn.

"at the risk of being overly simplistic and childish why would you take the time to write a semi-longwinded post?"

Because for me, this is like writing a sentence; you've yet to see "long-winded" and because not caring about someone else's criticism of my opinion, is not the same thing as not desiring that the facts be straight. And on top of all of that, I like to debate, and dealing with ranting angry posters like ya'll who hate me is relaxing - it allows me to disengage most of my brain since rebuffing the repsonses requires little more than metal autopilot.

Yes, now I am really just pouring on the snobbery! If you want to take me seriously and psyco analyize and get all worked up about it, that's your choice. But don't get even more upset when you realize that to me, it only adds to the entertainment. I don't take myself seriously, and you all should definately not talk me seriously and you should DEFINATELY stop talking yourselves so seriously.

"The truth is, there's types like you in every on-line roleplaying game, I've met them.. I've battled them. All introverts, all ranging from the emotionally confused, socially dysfunctional, and intelligent teenager, to the bright college student that needs the satisfaction of having a wordly persona they can't seem to attain among their real life peers. Yes, deny it, respond with another well-worded, well-writen post. Don't forget to be particularly creative and witty, and don't forget to deny that aim with another set of particularly creative and witty comments. Make sure that each sentence is complete and ends with a period, make sure the grammer is correct and the punctuation, try not to use the same collegiate level words more than once."

Hahaha that was very good. Its a good trick in debate to rebuff all of your oppoents arguments before he/she makes them. You don't think you'll believe anything I say if I try to deny this, but let's see if you'll believe some candor.

So I'll get serious for just a moment.. then go back to having fun...

You are actually wrong in your assessment, but not for the reasons you might think. I am absolutely not an introvert. Toss me a private email, and we'll arrange a teamspeak or a phone call and clear that right up. It's not that I'm socially dysfunctional, or emotioanally confused -- at least not in the way you meant that. I'm a post graduate actaully, so not a teenager. What I actually am is stressed out of my mind.

So, since you failed pretty bad at your stereo-typical psyco-analysis, I'll share with you some truth. I have a degree in philsophy with a emphasis in philosophy of religion and 20th century existentialism. I'm also studying and active in the field of political science, and can't decide if I want to go back and work on my PHD or not. NO, this is not me tooting my own horn. I said that to say this: right now I am using precisely NONE of the things that I worked so hard for in school, and I have an outlet of NONE of the things that I am passionate about.

I am passionate about social issues in the political realm, issues such as civil liberties and human rights; I am pasioante about theological study and the philosophy of religions, and all though you would NEVER know it from my sloppy, half assed posts on these forums, I am passionate, very passionate about writing. But right now I am working as a corporate section manager over a team of about 25 people in a R&D (research and development) tech lab for a very large company. Somehow my life flew by and I have so far managed to do exactly NONE of the things I wanted to do with my life. In fact I'm pretty much right where I DID NOT want to be. I am stuck in a job that I hate, and the pressure in that job this year has been indescribable.

I wish I could just walk away and go do the thigns that I am passionate about, but the problem is I don't know exactly what that would be. Do I need to go back for more schooling? Should it be some kind of non-profit organization dealing with humanitarian social issues? Should it be somethign that emphasizes the spirital side of my life more? And what would that be? Add to this that my Aunt was diagnosed suddenly with terminal cancer, and three weeks after being diagnosed she is about to die. My father and mother were a wreck, and they declared bankrupcy in their past and have no money, and were 3,000 miles away from my Aunt. So I requested forbearance on student loans and car loans and even took out some loans and started coming up with about 1,500 dollars to fly both of them back there to be with and take care of my Aunt, pay for their expenses while out there and fly them back.

And on top of that, one of my closest friend nearly tried to kill herself recently - which had made me ask myself, what kind of friend am I? She's been diagnosed with a slew of mental disorders which is so sad, because she desevers so much better. And on top of all of that, the only thing you did hit the nail on is that I could very much use a significant other in my life right now. I have a lot of good friends, but still miss that side of life, and it feels a little lonely sometimes. I've been without that for a while, and of course it affects things. Hell, if I was in love, dating, cooing, making love and thinking about how amazing x person was all the time, I can promise you I ceratinly wouldn't spend time here on these boards writing for stress relase.

I'm not sure, does an introvert usually speak with that much candor?

So yeah, sometimes these boards are my punching bag -- because I can't save the world, and I can't fix my friend and I can't stop my aunts cancer and I can't stop going to work, hehe. And this is not some kind of apology. I'll probably keep posting my ramblings for as long as I find it relaxing to do so. Sometimes picking a fight and then fighting a fight that doesn't matter (like these here) is just a way of relieving the stress of the fights you're powerless to fight in real life. It's a good place to blow off steam. If you don't like it, don't read it.

So the reason I posted all that is because quite frankly I thought your analysis was more smug and arrogant than anything I have ever written in my entire history on the boards. So I thought I'd talk a little bit about the ways in which you were wrong, and the ways in which mabye without evne realizing it, you were a little bit right.

I'm sure I'll be flammed for such a self-absorbed post. And you're right. My posts are a little bit that -- becuase I'm writing for me, not for you. I write because I need an outlet so that I don't snap -- and I don't appologize if you all take the brunt of it.
