100% resists are lame, and so is havning to PVP against 80% resist Kinetic composite armor against a freaking fencer who can outdamage a TKM cuz he has a stupid "baton" that does stun damage and pretty much ignores composite armor

I didn't say it was your fault, I said i was gonna blame you.

1 in 4 people is unbalanced. Think of 3 friends, if they seem normal, You're the one.

Ok I take back my cement wall analogy. But to make it clear I said "WALL" not bricks. Bruce Lee couldn't punch threw a cement wall. But if you were to punch 1-3 inch steel armor you would not and could not penetrate it. I agree that we should not compare the game to real life situations, my analogy is just stating that in some situations if seems fair that certain mobs have 100% resistance on some, most, or all in rare occasions.

I like the bit about the stun baton. heh!

The problem i think is that ppl are trying to associate the damage realistically. Such as:

Reasoning:

When you inflict physical pain on a human, when does it not hurt or cause damage? (ex. elder)

I mean if we're going to talk about instances, what about electricity and rubber? it just depends on the circumstance. Personally i'd say why not, i mean damage is damamge and eventually you should be able to hurt it. but then again my advice is to get a second profession, thats what the skill points are for anyways.

you can get through 100% resists with Armor Piercing depending on what armor they have. It works in PVE but not in PVP.
*shrug*
P.S. 100% is reasonable, i doubt even Bruce Lee could walk up to a abrams tank and damage it with his hands.

AP would help IF it works the way the devs say it works. (No bonus to damage, reduction in %), but if it works the way players are observing, (AP = Bonus damage), then the AP would have NO effect on 100% resists. That would actually be a good test to prove one way or the other how AP works, Have a rifleman/carbineer attack something with a AP1 100% energy resist and see if he can damage it with a laser rifle/carbine. Or have a swordsman attack something with 100% ap1 blast or kenitic resists with a hammer or curved sword. Are any of the 100% energy blast or kinetic that only have AP1? or an energy resist 100% that has ap2 (test using t-21?)

I'm not trying to add reality to this because of the fact it is a game, just more fun. If you want to add reality you'd have to change THE WHOLE combat system. Jedis should chop your arm off in one swipe. Those stupid Jawa rifles should tickle me because they aren't meant to use against droids, and the super battle droids have high resists agains stun!

99% resists isn't too much I think, and ultimatly I would like to see kenetic broken down. A master marksmen has energy, stun, cold, kenetic, and heat damage. A master brawler had kenetic, woot!

It is simple game balance issues. 100% resist mobs make it impossible for a profession that deals that damage to hurt it. on the other hand, a profession that deals out a different damage type can solo it.

if they are trying to make soloing high end mobs impossible, they are going about it the wrong way with 100% resists. 80% max, but give the critter EVEN reists across the board, perhaps with a slightly lower(60%) resistance to one damage type. That way it takes a group to overcome it, not a single member of a different profession.

not that hard a concept

Bad idea. With no 100% resists anything can hypotheticaly be soloed by anyone. BAD IDEA. This encourages grouping which is what a online game is about.

The keyword in your statement is "hypothetically". At the moment TKA's deal specifically kenetic dammage that is our only dammage type. When a creature has 100% resists to kenetic dammage that means we are useless.

Lets say for the sake of argument you arrive in Theed when you hear a voice scream "Forming a group for a peko-peko albatross. One slot left!". You quickly rush over with your master TKA title, but by the time you get there there is also a Master Rifleman who wants to join in on the hunt. What is a group leader to do? The rifleman can deal multiple dammage types that the peko-peko albatross does not have 100% resists to and you as a TKA deal kenetic dammage which the Peko Peko Albatross has 100% resists to. Thus the rifleman gets the group invite and you get left behind. The fact of the matter is that 100% resists encourage grouping of every combat profession except for TKA which happens to be the only profession in the game which is limited to a single dammage type.

So in the end the only thing 100% resists do is encourage TKA's to solo creatures that do not have 100% kenetic resists, it sorta backfired didn't it?

I think that for the most part after the combat balance the Dev's will tailor back the Mob's from being so insanely over HAM's and resisted. We'll see but I'd hold off till a while after the CB.

The reason there iss 100% resits is to restrict people from soloing everything like many said above. It is tryin to make you group with people to kill the hardest creatures instead of a TKM just running off and killing anything.

I think they did it to get a mix of professions in groups. Nice idea if you like to hunt in groups. I prefer solo PvE.

You should read the rest of the responses, it is very well known that a Master Swordman can kill almost anything they want solo. That argument has no value in my book unless all it is applied to all of the other classes in the game.
