No. You have to be out of combat totally before it will let you meditate, and states keep you from meditating as well.

I thought the NGE couldn't be any worse than the CU, but I was wrong.

Then is being on fire a DOT or a state? Because you can't meditate while on fire.

Answer: Its both

You are in fact in the "state" of being on fire

However, this state is causing you to take damage over time.

I think that it is our offensive abilities in the SWG universe that defines us. We have one of the fastest hitting professions in the game, and with that speed comes some pretty high damage.

I think the aspect of offense is probably pretty important simply because we only really have 1 weapon to use. In RL most martial arts teach to use more than one weapon. Seeings as we dont have that, it makes sense (to me) for us to be one of the fastest and hardest hitting melee profs.

Not all states keep you from meditating. Poison, disease, and bleeding can all be considered states (the icons appear near your HAM for instance) but if we couldn't meditate when afflicted by those we'd lose half of the reason for meditating.

1. I think our offense defines the class as a whole. We dole out damage very quickly and very accurately. We have the ability to target any pool and apply all state effects. This makes us a considerable offensive weapon.

2. Offense is also most important to me. I want to take out my prey quickly so I can move on to my next victim.

3. We define ourselves. I'm a hunter and known as such. Being a TKM is how I hunt.

Not a choice, but my best response: we're the top well-rounded combat class. We have both offensive and defensive capabilities that work together to make us a formidable weapon!

I find that meditation is the foundation on which the profession is built. Yes, right now we do the most *light armor kinetic* damage in the game. But a Swordsman is truly defined by their damage output. A Fencer seems to be defined right now by their ability to avoid damage and state effects while a Teras Kasi has the highest toughness (mitigates damage when actually hit).

The meditation background of the Teras Kasi allows for the superhuman levels of damage and dexterity. It also allows us to purify our bodies of poisons, disease, and at the highest levels of skill - wounds.

...And that's why you can't just say that meditate works for DOTs and not states.

Also, what makes fire a state and not poison? Are you not ever in the "poisoned" state? Or "bleeding" state? I'm pretty sure that, by definition, everything that creates an icon next to your HAM is a state, which includes DOTs.

Hmm, didn't know about the fire. That is wacky that it's considered a state, but I guess you could say that you can only meditate when you are not effected by states or DoTs that you can cure with meditation. (Poison, disease, bleeds)

I can see not being able to meditate while dizzied, as you would just flop on the ground. Having other states prevent meditation is just annoying, as you cannot meditate while in combat anyway.
