Thread: blue cons almost incap me
Maybe that's true, but in my family that behavior would get me absolutlely nowhere except into more trouble. And in my real life with the 30 people under me who depend on my to advocate their concerns and work through bad situations and make them the best, that kind of approach would do nothing but cost me my job, and hurt the people who depend on me. And basically, my believe is that even though this is a game, the same principles really apply here as well: that the BEST approach to actualy getting real change to happen is to be HONEST about the problems -- admit the problems which are bad, and admit the problems which actually aren't so bad, not exaggerate but clearly, rationally and camly state with sophistication the facts of the matter. I don't believe in the philosphy that says "maybe if we just through a tantrum long enough, loud enough, and often enough then we'll get what we want." Instead I believe that mabye if we demonstrate that we're knoweldgeable, reflective and thoughful, constructive and articulate and intelligent about class design, and YES even willing to compromise we will get FAR MORE reception from everyone who matters.
Now, it is entirely possible that I'm wrong. Maybe acting like an idiot and creating a glut of stupid, crying, bitching, petulent 2-year old tantrum threads all over these boards is the best way to get change for the class. Maybe its better to basically runin any useful or enjoyable purpose the profession boards seved in order to really drive our disconent home in the minds of the Devs. But I just don't think so. And as such, I'm goning to keep posting what I think, and you are free to totally discard it or accept it at your leisure.
I do appreciate your thoughtful posts.
Yes, I'd have to agree that lying would get us nowhere. I just don't play enough as a tk, and I realize that progress through the trees is not linear (some spots are bound to be tougher than others), to be able to say who is lying and who isn't.
It's one thing to lie and another to just plain be unhappy, please feel free to call the ones you see as liars, in a nice way of course. I just don't see much of a point at arguing with the ones who say they aren't having any fun anymore, is all.
Maybe they had unrealistic expectations of the class, maybe they had realistic ones and are really getting pounded out there. I tend to believe them until proven otherwise as everyone's experiences will be different. Without medic skills, I can see them get pounded... without master brawler, I can see them getting pounded even more.
I think more and more TK are picking these two skills up, simply for the ability to keep progressing. That's how it worked with me.I stopped advancing tk at 5 boxes and took a week off to get both master medic and master brawler, dropping near master ch in the process. That hurts =) I was just trying to find a way to be more effective at being a TK, and MB and MM did that for me. Never thought I'd see it as almost a requirement of reaching TK Master =)
I'd suggest adding a Warcry 2 and a Stun combo in there too...That's been working extremely well since the last patch...
I couldn't care less how it sounds. People posting ten times as often as I to whine and bitch and moan and complain are starting to come off as morons, but I guess they can still feel free to post here, can't they?
"I think most people are concerned with a few things, first the general direction the dev team is taking melee and the specific changes in to TK's. These changes may not bother you (not saying you said they are good) but they are seen as a negative to myself and others."
That's of course fine. I agree that some changes are negative. I do not agree with the general over-exaggerated attitude of displayed in 90% capacity on the boards. I think it does more to hurt us than help us.
"Let's just accept that many of us die to blues and you kill reds solo, and your just that much better than the rest of us. "
I'm assuming what you mean by this is "let's just accept what you have to say so you don't have to post it anymore" --- well I'll do that as soon as the bitching and moaning crowd stops posting the SAME complaints and the SAME whines and the SAME things over and over again. Oh wait, no one has a problem with that. There is literally ZERO useful information on the TK forums right now -- it is competely shoutted down by five thousand IDENTICAL threads all complaining about the same problem...
So Sir, I retort, let's just ACCEPT that we all acknoweldge there are problems, and leave it at that? But somehow I imagine that's not going to happen. So Sir, as long as there is some moron saying "it is impossible for TKs to solo - a post which was made more than once -- I will indeed respond with "I'm a TK and I solo fine."
If that sounds self-important to you, if you don't like me, if you have other bad thoughts to think about me, I really couldn't care less. This is a forum, the bitching whiner over-exaggerators have a right to post, and so do I, and of course every more reasonable person in between does as well.
If you WANT to be effective as a TK right now, you can. If you want to bitch and be unhappy because you can't be effective right now in the specific WAY that you want, that's not necessarily an illegitimate point, but let's just keep the facts straight while we're discussing it. I'm on endor right now, tabbed out because I was resting at a camp -- I'm by myself, I'm kicking butt and doing just fine. It's not that I'm better than anyone, in fact I'm probably not as good as most everyone else here. The only difference is that I try, rather than throwing up my hands and acting stupid. The only difference is that I don't feel that I need to over-exaggerate problems so that they have more of a chance of being fixed. In fact I think doing that means they have LESS of a change of being fixed, as everyone who matters knows that exaggerators are full of **edit**.
So, I'm here, I'll be here, I'm not going anywhere, and I don't care about your opinion of my opinion.
I will say this your need to comment on every suggestion and thread seeming to invalidate the opinion of others is getting tiresome.
Here's a good example:
Domesticated tusk cats from Naboo. I have 2 in my datapad.
They are 5500 HAM, 170-180 damage, 20% kinetic resist, blind attack. They con blue to me. In order to kill one I must:
a) hit it 18.3 times with VK on before it hits me 5.8 times without healing
b) use KD 3-4 times during the fight, w/o VK, w/o missing one, bringing myself to <3/4 HAM and hit it 11.6 times w/ VK before it hits me 4.4 times w/o healing
c) hit it 18 times w/ VK on healing myself twice before it hits me 11.6 times and praying none of those are head hits.
d) use the dizzy/lunge 1 technique which is still hard on the mind and the **edit** thing keeps hitting me while kneeling still landing 18.3 times with VK on before it hits me 5.8 times w/o healing otherwise i can heal maybe once, twice if lucky, to preserve my mind for specials.
e) if 2 step in use /burstrun before I can't
f) if 3 step in, pray that i remembered to update my clone data to the nearest facility.
I think we can see where this is going. Now these are BLUE cons. They will net me less than 200 unarmed xp each if I take them down. Thats 20 combat xp. That means for me (2.4.4.3) to finish mTKA I need to kill 4,000 such animals. Now mind you, I have found some white cons that I can kill with two pets (cause the mob has roughly more than 10k HAM) that will yield me decent xp (while other white cons are <400 unarmed xp). If we start doing the math on my chances of surviving the new white con battles over and over the odds aren't good.
I will resort to having a real life if this game isn't fun.
