swordsman advantages:

- mind bleeds

-powerful targeted pool damage

-blast and kinetic damage types

-medium armor pierce on virtually all weapons

-big damage

TKA advantages:

-very fast

-self buff (power boost)

-force of will

-solid damage

-meditate bleeds, poison, disease and wounds away

-can target any pool for moderate damage

-has knockdown and dizzy in a single move

So overall 2 handed would be better if you expect to fight a lot of heavily armored opponents where as TKA is more of a utility class since it is relegated to kinetic damage and ap1. So it comes down to who you plan on fighting most of the time, although, I hear that TKA at higher levels can take out heavily armored opponents moderately well.

hello all. Im currently carbineer 0213, doctor 3440 and merchant 0044. Im sick of Carbineer, its no fun and the HAM is insane...unbuffed I go from 500 health to 100 health in two shots...it sucks. It sucks in PvP, it sucks in PvE, it plain outright sucks. Im looking for a new profession and was thinking either TKA or swordsman, and ive heard great things about them both. Kinda want it for PvP, but mainly want it to do fun things like the genosion dungeon. Please post ups and downs about both professions. Right now im leaning towards Swordsman...

TKA is pretty weak in PvE, all it's really good for is KD2, swordsman would be a far better choice for PVE. Now PvP is really different, TKA is very useful with fast semi hard hits, and the KD, sowrdsman can hit hard, but its bad accuracy and kind of slow.

Soo, yeah.

You dont need no stinkin Merchant skill now do you? heh just drop all of the Artisan skills keep your vendor and be the best of both as i am going for at this moment Master Swordsman/ TKA 1/2/0/3

Knockdown1; Warcry1; Switch To Power Hammer/2H Curved Sword; 2HHit3 till they can not see straight eh but 1 to 3 hits and its usually over EVEN WITH COMPOSITE ARMOR!!!!!!! just food for thought

If you want to hunt in caves, swordsman is the way to go. I've played all the melee professions except Pikeman and Swordsman is hands down the best PvE melee profession. Area3 is just an insane move.

PvP is a TOTALLY different animal and with the bleed nerf swordsman absolutely suck. TKA is the best IMO of all melee profession for PvP.

So.... its up to what you want to be better at more.

I must say that playing both swordsman and TKA, I definately have to aggree that TKA is where it is at in PvP and PvE. Yes, I don't have the insane ability of Area Attack 3 that the swordsman has, but knocking down a creature and killing it before it gets back up as an appeal to it. If I'm buffed, I shrug the other hits from his buddies while I finish them off one at a time.

Swordsman is fun, but they suffer with melee defense ability and take a lot more hits. Because of their slow attacks in combination with the lower melee defense, I found myself buying the 80% melee armor to stay alive, but then started suffering from incumbrance. Trade off was that I could last a long time also, as my armor now shrugged off the hits. With buffs, I could spam specials until creatures were sliced and diced, dying at my feet.

All in all... there is a trade-off to each profession. I suggest you go Master Brawler, then Novice in each. The one you find yourself playing more often is probably the one you should go with.

for pvp and pve id go tka force of will, powerboost, the insane damage it can put out in 10 seconds(warcry kd) makes it worth it.

TKA is great if you are only taking on a single opponent or a small group of MOB's

If you happen to be on Yavin IV by yourself with no maskscent ability you'll find yourself wishing very very quickly that you were either a swordsman or pikeman instead of a TKA
