Thread: Check the dev tracker
I agree grimror - that's what i am hoping the devs suggest in 2-3 days hehe.
Get rid of all knockdowns, and give all those losing their knockdowns somethign defensive instead that actually let's them get exp at a decent rate.
For pvp - who knows, I say they turn pvp into an arena and when you enter all your stats morph into the same as everybody else's, and you all get a survival knife and a cdef pistol, and all your skills are reset to zero.
"If the ammount of dammage you do with 1 KD attack is equivilent to the dammage you could do currently in a 30 sec time frame with 3 knock downs I don't see the problem. Yes you'll have 15 seconds where you actually get hit rather than being able to use knock down 2x get off about 15 seconds of punching then do KD 2x again and finish off the NPC. That adds to the challenge of the game. As for XP grind it's obvious by the 450,000 XP needed to gain higher levels of TKA that the developers never intended for people to go out and get that all in a single day or two of grind. This is a MMORPG if we master everything too soon you'll get bored and look for more content or quit."
Wow, what a pipe dream. They aren't gonna let you do 5k damage with one move. Furthermore, as it is now, you can't get anything near 450k xp in a day of casual play like you could before. If you hadnt given up and quit playing since last patch, you would realize this.
"These two things TKA's have been screaming for for ages "Why can't I attack a running player when they can run away and fire at me with 90% accuracy" I believe would be the direct quote. Sure you can still kite but your going to be less accurate and slower. Meaning melee has a chance to catch up. The only thing missing is a /stick command"
How on earth did you infer from any of those statements that a player was going to be slower while running? You're only hearing things you want to hear, not the actual things the dev said. All in all, this just means a slower death while being kited, you still won't catch up to them, as the tools you were given (lunge) are now on a 30 second timer. Good luck there buddy.
"You mean I don't have to pay 500 HAM foran attack that does 100 dammage? If our other attacks become stringable and more effective we won't need to rely on Knockdown as much as we have been. "
There is NO justifiable reason in any statement that the devs listed that would lead any intelligent person to the decision that KD will be less needed. Until we have REAL tanks in this game, KD is our only tool (and flawed IMO) for pve tankage.
Frankly, you're assuming way too much and making rediculous inferences from the changes the devs gave. Furthermore, you have made several statements on the tangent of "being invincible with KD". That being the case, why on earth did you quit the game when HAM costs were raised? The challenge level was elevated at that point in time but you chose to put your head in the sand and not play? Sounds hypocritical to me friend.
I've limited my play since the last patch for a number of reasons. First was the HAM costs associated with VK's which have already been addressed in one of the other posts the dev's have made. Even after the patch I was able to go to darthmir and take on night sisters with the KD 2x in a row hit regularly then repeat. Knockdown spam made TKA **edit** near invunerable in PvE unless of course the target you were fighting had one hell of a blaster that could either take all of your action/mind in one shot. Even so the odds were still in our favor if we got close enough to engage them in hand to hand. Another reason I quit playing was that i could no longer call either of my pets which were a level 10 and a level 20 because of the change to the wookiee taming bonus which made that bonus virtually useless. Other reasons included the fact that after the patch my frame rate dropped from a solid 30FPS to an average of 5FPS (the FPS jumped around dramatically while I was playing going from 0 to 19 FPS to 30 then dropping to 5), and other problems that were introduced in the patch. I decided to give the developers time to iron out the problems before wasting my time leveling when it made little to no difference to what I could do in the game.
As for the statements from the devs....If you'd been paying attention to the dev tracker there is a thread specifically targeting slowing down ranged players when they run and fire. This is how I interpreted the modifiers that they are suggesting to be implemented as. It might be a mistake on my part however after going through all 20 odd pages of the post which addresses slowing down ranged users when they fire I'd say the majority of the community was for it. While there was a small minority completely against it.
I honestly think in 15 seconds you'll recieve less dammage fromthe majority of NPC's than you can right now with VK's equiped and spamming Knockdown repeatedly.
BTW how the heck did you get a value of 5k dammage? At best with my VK's equiped I'm pulling 1200 dammage and I'm at master power techniques. With out VK's equiped it's ranging around 300-700. I can get off about 3KD's in a row with out putting my HAM so low that I pass out. At best that's 3600 with VK's, and 2100 unarmed. Take those values and multiply by the modifier for PvP 75% and we end up with 2700 dammage with VK's equiped and 1575 dammage unarmed. Which should be more than enough to kill any PvP player in one hit. Like I said I'd like to see how this plays out before I complain. If the change sucks I'll be right beside you yelling, but until I see it implemented and try it out it's really hard to see how it's all going to mesh togeather with out the exact numbers.
PvP - If you get knocked down by me once, you don't get up to talk about it.On the other hand, a ranged user cannot spam it now. GOOD CHANGE
PvE - The timer will counterbalance the reduced HAM costs thus pretty much keeping things the way they are now. I still hunt very effectively now CHANGE DOESN'T MATTER
Overall I'd say this is a good change
Well, you can't really say that. In all of those other posts I explicitly stated that I agree soloing is hard and that I spend a lot of time grouping.
Plus, I have spent a lot more time soloing this week and I still fail to see why people are saying they can't solo blue and white cons, except now you just take some damage.
i think that devs are playing thr tka class and laughing at ppl on these forums...
people are crying that the tka takes any kind of damage...(they are not superman!!!) all i do is solo unless i want $ ill goto lok and party up for nym missions...
myself solo'd 2 red/white sharpets (2200ham each) and 2 babies(few hundred)...used KD once...no armor just me and my 132 max dam 1.6 vibro...think i used 2 A stims during battle...I barely lived but i lived....
i might have done 3 specials total including KD w/o vibro =( .
I like to see the specials instead of seeing regular combat moves....
solution :
get rid of vibro..make hands do avg damage of vibro and use new ham system HOLO is talking about except the MIND cost should be a teenie bit lower...
questions comments ??
Oh yeah, everyone take a look at the Brawler issues... Most of them do in fact seem to apply to TKA as well.
For instance they are taking a closer look at defense for melee.
Every high end mob prettymuch attacks once per second or close enough to that frequency. They all hit for 100 plus damage per hit and they gang up on you. A 30 second timer means you're taking about 20 or so potential hits between KDs. You can lower that damage on one target using debuffs like blind, stun, etc to make it 30 to 70 points a second. You can't do anything about the second, third, fourth guy. You can do the math on the amount of damage you are going to need to take to stand toe to toe with just 2 mobs. They don't even need to be high end. I was dropped by 3 syckes the other day. I'm a 2/2/4/2 TKA. That's before the timer.
Basically melee has been relegated to scavenger duty. We can't run into the fight because we'll get our butts kicked as we have no way to mitigate the damage or perform any sort of crowd control. All we can do now is stand in the middle of the gun fighters and CH and wait for a stray enemy to run over. If it looks safe enough (only one or two) then we can run in and "help" the group.
It might help PvP but only a small percentage of people participate in PvP. It totally ruins PvE.
