Thread: the damage migration screwjob
Damage mit is not a screwjob, in pve I love it Melee Mit has made all melee classes the tanks they should be. Now in pvp its quite the opposite, I know some of you are going to think its WAA im not this WAA but thats not it. The TRADE OFF for melee was power over ranged in pvp that was stated months ago by the devs. However now im consistenly being shot up by guys from 40+ meters that ya cant hit as hard but comeon 700+ damage from 40meters = 1 dead melee. Now if your smart then you use buildings and all the old tricks but its just sort of pathetic to be a cantina hider as an elite class hehe.
Well ranged proffs get ranged mitigation and mellee profs get mellee mitigation so whats your point atone? It works both ways, if you only have ranged proffesions then you only get ranged mitigation, and same for mellee. If you chose to haveboth a ranged and mellee prof then you get both types. It's that simple, no one is forcing you to take a proffesion of each type. You make it sound as if they was something just aimed at mellee professions, when really it affects both equally.
Actually, Smugglers get Melee Dmg Mit 1 at Dirty Fighting 3.
Just an FYI
dude, atone, you need to read the stickies
Taking on ranged guys is no diffrent than before. IF he has ranged mitigation and you have melee mitigation, then it is exactaly the same.
but if the ranged guy was smart and picked up melee mitigation then he has a little more advantage.
if you picked up ranged mitigation then you havean advantage.
It's sooo simple i don't know why you people are complaining. Ranged mitigation works against ranged attacks, and meleemitigation works against melee attacks. since you only do melee damage, then only melee mitigation effects you.

yes its true. I heard from someone that to be able to compete damage wise or whatever against ranged we would have to get ranged damage migration.Which i think is BS.What about the TKA's (like myself) that hate ranged and would never pick it up?Huh
We just got screwed again i think
I honestly don't understand that viewpoint. As a couple of other posters have pointed out, if ranged guys get ranged mitigation, and melee guys get melee mitigation, then it's totally equal. You'll cause normal damage to them, they'll cause normal damage to you. I just don't see how this is screwing melee over.
/agree Mister_Heavy. MItigation doesn't affect much in PvP, or anything but high level PvE actually. It certainly doesn't adversely affect melee vs. ranged. The recent pet nerf was a huge disadvantage to ranged so it's ridiculous to accuse the devs of favoring ranged.
The idea of mitigation is that high level PvE mobs, and maybesome specialnew weapons coming with the combat revamp, will have a high damage variance. Like Nightsisters will hit for 1000-3000, instead of the normal variance now wheremobs like Gurkshit for 150-200. Mitigation will make Brawlers able to tank the Nightsister (dropping damage to 1000-1800before toughness and armor reductions) where players without Melee mitigation will get slaughtered for the full 1000-3000.
If the ranged fighter has no Melee then they have no Melee Mitigation and have no bonuses against a TKA.
Same holds true for Melee v. Ranged.
The system makes sense. I'm really fed up of the type of doom and gloom certain people just love to spew out.
If the system is so bad, cancel your account and go play something else.

Yes but it does seem like they perfer ranged.
I mean it seems that they want everyone in this game to be ranged of some sort
Which is unfair and dumb
They screwed us over with the migration thing
i dont know man, if you think star wars , you think laser guns and stuff, but they wanted to apeal to those of us who enjoy melee.
i do think there should be a bounty hunter type melee proffession that doesn't require thel uck of the draw to unlock, and perma death.
id like to just play a class that is all melee, but right now if i do that, id get 1 shoted by a rebel medic, because i dont have ranged mitigation.
There is a profession that is all melee - it is called jedi.
As far as ranged vs. melee is concerned, imho any ranged user should kill a pure melee in a fight in the open. No question about it. A pure melee user should only stay a chance in close quarters, where range does not matter.
This is Star Wars, not EQ. In the movies people don't charge each other with swords or bare fists, they use blasters.
