"Any white (or blue) con nym is easily soloable for a skilled TKA.. with power 4 and knockdown."

With all due respect, duh. But that wasn't the question was it - the question was, without knockdown, so let's look at the next part.

"BUT you dont need knockdown at all, you can either dizzy/lunge, or pick up novice medic. I use 370 heal Stimpack B's that my friend makes, and can heal myself for 500-600 action/health with one shot. Now I know this is not simply using TKA skills to level, but the fact of the matter is, no melee class in the history of games has survived long without some healing."

So your answer is that players should stop sucking because they expect that their ELITE PROFESSION CLASS SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIGHT AN EVEN CON WITHOUT BEING FORCED TO THROW SKILL POINTS INTO ANOTHER PROFESSION. Nice. No, in fact it would be brilliant if not for the fact that every single person on these forums already knows this. Of course healing helps. I and many others mentioned this as workarounds for the last patch, as a way to continue to do well and be viable. I also mentioned aids from specing into Master Brawler as another way to work around some of the effects of TK changes.

The point that I think many people would make (and thank god I can finally agree with them on something) is that as an elite profession, I should have to rely on precisely ZERO other professions to fight an even con mob. To fight a yellow mob I should have to rely on other professions and really make a strong tactical effort. To fight a red mob I should pray. I would have no problem if that was the way it worked. But it's not. Please tell me how to fight a Nym that cons white to a master without using knockdown and relying on TK skills alone? Answer: you can't. And that's the problem that I think many people are trying to express...

It has nothing to do with sucking. When the last patch rolled out, I did say that people should stop overreacting - and I still feel the hyper-negativity really didn't help anything. But, that was becasue after the patch it was still possible to fight using TK skills alone, though it was definately harder. Without the ability to keep a mob pinned down, we are incapable of fighting the things we are supposed to be fighting without relying on other professions. This means I can't be a TK and an entertainer, or an artisan or be a master ranger, because I am FORCED to take master brawler and master Medic to even stand a chance.

Agree or disagree, I don't care. But let's at least get the argument right. The argument is: some of us feel it is not right that the TK elite profession won't be able to fight even conning mobs at master level without being forced to rely on other professions. You see it differently.

Anyway, I'd like to repeat one part: In my world, a Teras Kasi master would be able to solo even coning mobs using nothing but Teras Kasi skills and win every time (baring special circumstances, like adds, etc.) **edit** this 50/50 bull crap. I am not busting my ass to get to MASTER just to barely be able to fight something that cons white to me, I don't care what the "definition" of white con is. A Teras Kasi Master would have a slim possibility of putting down a yellow con mob if everything when his/her way using nothing but TK skills. Why? Becasuse goddammit, putting down a monster that had the advantage over you sometimes is FUN. It makes you feel like the class is worth something. A TK Master should be able to take down a yellow con mob nearly every time IF he/she chooses to invest skill points in seconrdary professions specifically and solely designed to aid in combat. And yes, a TK Master should have no choice of soloing a red. I would have no problem if that was how it worked.

I apologize for spelling - its very late.

Obyo-STARSIDER, the problem is right now KD IS the end all for our class. That might not be right, but that way TKs are currently designed, that's the way it is. I hightly doubt you are even a TK at all. You're probably unarmed or novice, maybe you haven't even gotten balance one yet.

I strongly argued against the intense complaining that was going on after the last patch, because there were absolutely ways around it - very clear ways to be very, very effective. If the same thing is true after this patch, then I'll argue the same way. However, I think most of us do not see a way for that to be possible.

So Obyo-STARSIDER, put your money where your mouth is -- if KD isn't the end all of the class, post for us right now, the repro steps in detail for how YOU fight high level content without it - let's take for example, a WHITE conning Nym of some kind as one example and perahps an mature male/female snorbal as another - these things can hit for 200-300 points a shot. So list for me, Obyo-STARSIDER, in detail how you would take those things on, or shutup.

People may not have liked my opinon in the last, but at least I posted specifics on exactly how I beat the last nerf.

Very well said, I wrote this hoping someone would post something like this. Here is who I am:

I have the following skills:

- Brawler 4/2/3/1

- Master Scout

- TKA 4/4/4/3 18k Combat EXP from Master TKA

- Ranger 4/2/2/0 (Got rid of traps for novice medic)

- Novice Medic

Now, the intent of my post was not to mention how a TKA can solo a jedi without knockdown, because we cant. But our class is not dead either. I used knockdown before, and I still use it, and will continue to do so until it is completely useless.

I have switched from knockdown 1 to knockdown 2, why... I dont know, but it's been sticking alot more lately after the patch. I currently do most of my exp with a 133/1.5 VK, and switch out of it to knockdown. I will be switching to a higher damage higher delay VK soon as I think they currently do more dps from my testing.

Any white (or blue) con nym is easily soloable for a skilled TKA.. with power 4 and knockdown. BUT you dont need knockdown at all, you can either dizzy/lunge, or pick up novice medic. I use 370 heal Stimpack B's that my friend makes, and can heal myself for 500-600 action/healthwith one shot. Now I know this is not simply using TKA skills to level, but the fact of the matter is, no melee class in the history of games has survived long without some healing.

The absolute BEST exp I have gotten post patch is with one other person. Best choices for this are another TKA with novice medic. Either alternate knockdown, or simply both use berserk. You can still heal yourself and others while berserk, and while the nerf hit berserk hard... it still increases your damage alot.

With the upcoming changes to defense and reduction in HAM for skills, I believe that the novice medic will be the way to go for TKA's. My optimal config for the upcoming patch would be to have master TKA, Brawler, and the first 2 trees of fencer... leaving us with INSANE melee defense and status change avoidance. This would help us tremendously. Now if you remember I have yet to get master precision striking, so my melee defense would go from it's current 22 to 32. So what i'm doing now would only be easier. Also we will still knockdown every 30 seconds, leaving about 2/5 the fight with the mob not even swining at us.

With the setup above, or maybe even without fencer (only time will tell) i think that simply going toe to toe with even (white con) nyms will be a synch with a leadoff intimidate followed up by a battle of unarmed hit 3's mixed in with novice medic skills. It's not knockdown power no, but you can exp off it, and with little downtime. Since the patch I have moved back down to 1000 health and action, bringing mind up to 800 and bringing willpower and focus up to max, leaving quickness at full and balancing out the others. Being a wookie has also helped me put my stats where they are since I get many bonuses.

I'm not saying it won't be tougher, but im saying that having it returned to our 150k an hour baz nitch buzzsaw technique we had before wouldn't be a fun game. To all those who got to tkm when it was insanely good, congrats... but people who do not have it now, don't lose hope. If you dont have novice medic... it's your best friend, and you will need it more soon than ever.

If you go into it with an open mind and look at it in a fresh way, instead of just complaining to yourself how you can't knock something down, then you'll never WANT to kill anything, let alone actually do it.

I dont' find your post offensive. I just don't see the point. The so-called 'whiners' have offered several well-written responses (with details, new suggestions, comparisons, screenshots, etc.) that clearly indicate WHY the TKA nerfs are out of balance with the game (in general) and will lead to the eventual disintegration of the profession as a whole.

I think i mentioned that there were a few people who wrote intelligent posts... in the "BTW" part of my post. I didnt mean to generalize this to everyone. I meant to basically kick the majority of people in the pants and say "Hey, stop asking for what we had back... it isnt going to happen. Learn to adapt instead of whine to the devs about it".

Now dont get me wrong, there ARE issues that need to be addressed and we DO need to protest. Defense for example, and special move HAM costs were two things. I am specifically mentioning knockdown itself. And although some of my tactics mentioned above involved knockdown, i tell how it can still be used post patch as an effective aid in fighting.

I wonder: why is every post of this type noticeably lacking in anything resembling a 'point'?

Actually coming from an everquest background... I sometimes think it is better to bypass first impressions and merely spark some contreversy or interest before actually going into detail. I made a fairly lengthy post above, and I wanted to just merely get a basic opinion without a whole lot of what you may call "a point" at first, to spark some conversation, then once I know it won't be falling on deaf ears... continue with discussion.

Maybe it isnt the best way to go about things... but there's no 400 reply posts called "I love my class" anywhere on the board now is there?
